hey wow good stuff here!

re the zoom tool, edit cursor moving - loving it much thanks so much, although.....

should it be seeking playback during playback on zoom? as it does here, looked at options but can't change it,

if i mouseclick in arrange the cursor moves but playback continues normally (no seek) but with zoom tool it seeks.

not sure if thats 'default' behvaviour but would be nice to have at least option of quickly disabling that for zooming around during playback.

also i note that the reaper pref 'move edit cursor on time selection change' doesn't work with the zoom tool time selection feature . not a big deal just an observation!

thanks again, this is going to be a big time saver

Probably not, fixing for next release.

To counter that I quite like the ability for it to seek whilst playing but would also love It also worked on zoom undo too so it would seek to left of arrange as we undid zooms.

The only other thing would be an action to toggle this on or off.

Thanks MBN!
/sarc

joke, indeed, in some cases seeking could be handy but in others a royal pita so an option would be best. i figured that it didn't seek before edit cursor feature added so found it odd.

I guess i imagined the use sequence being like: playback is stopped > zoom in > playback what i can see > stop> edit/tweak > move on.

then during playback, zoom to take a look at things without affecting playback.

'Tim'll fix it' for us no doubt.

sorry for continued annoyance, i'll be quiet for months i promise..

but would it at all possible to stop the view jumping back a touch upon playback when zoooming in stopped?

[edit] its to do with the 'scroll view during playback' option. prob best to ignore me...

moving the cursor a touch to the right of the left marquee edge passed the 'jump threshold'of the arrange view (only about 10px) seems would fix this.

Wow, just discovered the drag zoom feature! It's awesome!

Would it be possible to make it work more like Live's zoom function?

This is what happens when you click+drag:

1) The mouse cursor is locked on the (vertical axis) of the timeline.
2) Moving left/right scrolls the timeline. The mouse cursor is always at the time-point of the click. Until you let-go of the mouse button.

So you can scroll and zoom at the same time. And you don't lose the original point in the timeline, where the zoom was initiated.

That would make the tool a lot more useful and predictable I think.

Thanks!

Here's a short video demo: http://screencast.com/t/YTczODZlNDkt

Drag zoom is brilliant!
Sorry to reiterate this FR but could it be linked to mouse modifier actions just like the one to freehand draw envelopes?

Or, I suppose, just have it be able to toggle on and off?

you can map it to a mod with the "middle mouse button" (Alt, Shift, Ctrl)

& there is a toggle Action (i have it on my tool bar)

"SWS: Zoom Tool (Marquee)" is the action

& you can set up the mouse mod in "SWS: Zoom Preferences"

sorry if i have misunderstood your question!

Sounds good Subz, thanks. Will give it a go when I get home.

Edit OK tried it now. SWS: Zoom Tool (Marquee) gives me a one shot marquee zoom. That is good, but, I would like to have marquee zoom turn-on-and-off-able. That's what can't do at the moment.

But . . . the zoom preferences is good! So that gives you marquee zoom with your middle-mouse-button-drag and the option to undo the zoom with a click-no-drag of middle button. Thanks mate!

I'd still like marquee zoom turn-on-and-off-able though

Default thanks! :) here's my findings for 24

It works pretty well with a mouse but..

1_anyway you could get it to work with "absolute" controllers like the wacom pen pad (the thorn in the side of most devs) right now it is a bit irratic even at "0.01" (perhaps I'm asking miracles here so I won't be sad if you can't!) BUT, I think before you added the ableton like behaviour it was actually working pretty well so maybe a toggle for this (yes another one!)

2_would you consider eventually giving it a modifier key to activate it (even use the same one set for drag zoom) as then we could still use region/markers of loop select

3_the move edit cursor on drag zoom is great, would you be able to add the ability to restore the previous edit cursor when undo zooms or move it to the left of the undid zoomed arranged? (possibly over multiple zoom levels), could this be done even with the store edit cursor and restore edit cursor commands? It would be great to be able to zoom in with it auto seek to the start of the zoom and then on undoing the zoom locate the cursor to the left of the un-zoomed view.

Anyway, so good to finally have this nearly working in Reaper!

Default Question for SWS team! :) Xenakios Pitchbend plugin?

http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=41739

I still have the separate one running and for "rate based" pitch bends (that change the length and pitch tape style) it's still really amazing but I was wondering if there was an aim to include it in the main program since it would be useful to many

(I'm having a bit of deja-vu here though and we may have had this conversation somewhere else before. if so forgive me!)

Excellent addition!

The drag-zoom is 'almost there' for me. I can lose the connection between the clicked timeline point and the mouse pointer, if I move the mouse around a bit. I would prefer it if the mouse pointer always stayed at the original clicked point.

e.g. if you clicked+dragged at measure 12, the mouse pointer will always be at measure 12 no matter how much you zoom in or out.

I hope this is possible, not too hard to implement, and desirable by most!

Thank you!

Toggle marquee zoom would most likely be very simple for them to add!

you should add a FR to the tracker!!

gets a +1 from me even though the one off current system is perfect for my needs

now i'm off to download #24

is "disable/enable all plugins of the same sort" possible in the Current API?

so you could add it to the FX context list?

would be really useful if it is possible

Default Groove tool is making some of my songs from 30 to 70 megabytes in size! yikes! ;)

I have posted on the google site but wanted to know if anyone else is having this problem, if you suddenly find undos and saves really slow, check your file size and look for repeats of stuff like this....

It just goes on and on making the file very big.

I have all the normal groove files and haven't added any (I don't think) and haven't even used them in the songs.

It's a mystery to me!

EDIT: I think it's a corruption in my initial project file! it's causing the groove bit to get copied/doubled on each save so it gets very big quickly.

It's entirely possible I'm doing something wrong

I have a Custom Action chain I use during Mix downs to Help reference against commercial tracks Mapped to a Button Press on my control surface.

SWS:Select Master Tack
SWS/S&M: Bypass all FX for Selected Tracks (To disable any 2buss comp/limiters)
SWS/S&M: Unbypass last FX for Selected Tracks (Re-enables ARC Room Correction plugin, always last in chain)
SWS: Select only Track 1
Track: Toggle solo for Selected Tracks

Consolidate undo is checked so I can A-B by Button Press - Undo

I'm sure this used to be 100% reliable but no 90% of the time I just get track 1 select and solo happening.

Oh Yeah latest V4 Beta and SWS

It could be related to reaper not waiting long enough for one bit of the command and we have wait actions that might help.

Also you can send the reference track directly by disabling master and creating a direct out but that bypasses you arc plug in, you could get around that by having your mixed routed to a track with just the master fx on it which is then routed to a final track which contains the arc, you could then route your reference tracks to the arc track and bypass the master fx. Not ideal but arc like things put a spanner in the process

As for using undo as a toggle function, sws now have a way of creating cycle actions that can toggle between say custom actions with each press which may help you with this

Cheers for the Quick response

At Mixdown I usually insert tracks at the top (1,2,3) and put My REF wavs on them Balance them for volume and leave them muted. So I need them to bypass Everything in my master Except the ARC (I'm in a small room and there's no space for any more serious acoustic treatment so ARC does help a lot )

Anyhoo...
I've tried waits, and this slowing down the action chain has lead me to more details of a possible bug.
If I have any Track Selected then the Select Master Track Action does nothing. If I deselect all tracks it works as expected.
So as a work around I've put an unselect (surely it should be Deselect?) all tracks action at the start of the chain and that seems to be a workaround.

AND Can i just say how bloody great it is to be able to do this at a button Press thanks to Reaper and SWS. You can't do anything like this in Cubase, at least I never figured a way that didn't involve a hardware switch outside of the box.

could be possible an action with wich when you edit a midi item, to explode the selected notes on a different item in the same time?

(kinda like what explode midi notes by row, but do it with the notes you have selected)

Yeah just tested and the project went from 89 meg to 1.9 megs lol

I actually thought it was things like superior drummer and kontakt taking up masses of space for their save files so I didn't look into it too much till I saw the bottom of that 80 meg file (wordpad nearly died loading it)

Hi SWS dude(s)
How can I find something that "Play time selection"
(from the start to end, ignoring that vertical line)?

Thanks.

Well, I don't think you necessarily need SWS for that.
Turn on the preference for "Stop playback at end of loop if repeat is disabled" then make a macro for:
"Go to start of time selection"
"Transport: play"

You can also use "Xenakios/SWS: Toggle stop playback at end of time selection" if needed.

Hope this helps,
Tim

Thanks SWS. 60% done.
But I'd like to keep the "transport bar(?)" in origin place, that wouldn't change the zoom and keep the play/edit point in hands without another click.
(+Edit:Undo seems not work as I expected.)

Add these actions to the beginning/end of your custom action:

"Save play cursor position"
--other actions--
"Restore play cursor position"

(That's not their exact name, but it should point you in the right direction).

Finalised with "View: Go to cursor".
95% done as well. (5% = without the "flash back jump").
Thanks Dude.. I tried "SWS:Undo edit cursor move". Don't work in the case.

The macro:
-Store edit cursor position
-Go to start of time selection
-Play
-Recall edit cursor position
-Go to cursor

functional :]

It would be great if there was a simple Save/Load function for the Render Queues we make.

Can something like this be done easily with SWS/S&M Extensions?

Cheers!

That's really cool.
I asked how to do this sometime ago
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=73781
although gofer gave a workable way to do it, this is perfect now.

Thanks a lot.
Also for the other updates of course.
