Default Wait Note

Due to having issues activating this account, I posted my question on KVR here:
https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewt...p?f=7&t=519393

One of the replies I got stated that it is possible to do what I want using the Repack plugin and selecting the lua wait note script.

I followed the actions performed in the gif, but little info is available. The script doesn't seem to be included in Reapack, I just wondered how I could obtain it?

From KVR post:
You're talking about just instead of a counting in, it starts recording as soon as you input something. Yeah I dunno why every DAW doesn't have this but Reaper does have a script on they're Reapack that allows you to do it for midi.

Is it also possible to make this action default everytime you record a VST via MIDI?

Thanks for your help

"Record - toggle wait for MIDI note" is in me2beat's repository. Copy/paste this in Extensions > ReaPack > Import repositories:

Code:
https://github.com/me2beats/reapack/raw/master/index.xml
Then install the script: In Extensions > ReaPack > Browse packages, search for "wait for note", right click on it, choose "Install" and click on OK.

Great, thanks for the clear instructions. Not easy though as I had installed Reamenu!

But I found what I needed to do and installed ok. Thank you very much for your help.

Now to figure out how to load a VST! haha

Thanks for your response.

I've decided to try Reaper, I've had a little play with it and it's not too difficult so far. Only thing I would really like is to permanently make Wait Note Script the default method for recording. Is that possible?

If that can't be done, can a button with the wait note functions be made for the Toolbar?

both are possilbe.... see the actions list and see how to assign a hot key to the lua.... most likely you already have a key for Record... so remove that one and assign it to the the lua

If you want it as a button, add it [the lua] to any toolbar

Thanks for your tips. I managed to find the button method.

However, due to my half assed explanation, you probably didn't understand what I meant. I wasn't looking for a hot key, but rather, whenever you hit Record it automatically enters Wait Note mode instead of just starting the recording process. Would that be possible?

That is a much easier process in the long run.
