snatch.
first thing is to get those drivers installed.
then post a pic eg at image shack so we can
all see exactly your reap audio asio settings available.
also post a pic of your emu control panel once the new drivers are
installed.
i tell ya mate..its not reap.
its just setting up driver choices in reap prefs.

You will get your license in form of a key file attached to an email. You can save it to a thumbdrive/CD/etc. and carry it to the offline computer, then import the license key from that media using the key import function in Reaper. In other words, there is pretty much no difference between online and offline.

Hey Drugs..Thanks alot for your time and help in this matter..!..Now that I have it working, I do have one intermediate question.. How can I change the input set up on Reaper's device( ASIO) set up page.?.. Even though it's working, the configuartion for the inputs got stuck in the Dock 2 channel input mode ( 2L/2R ). I can record/playback on Reaper, but only thru these two inputs.. I wanna be able to use all the inputs, but I can't get the page to let me reconfigure..Thanks..!

Ok first you need to make the tracks in patchmix, then right click empty slot add peak meter thendo it again and add "insert send" (output to asio)
Set up all the channels your gonna use and save your session in PM.
Then in Reaper under enable inputs it says "first" & "last" those are what input Reaper will look for and use. Once that's done your new inputs will be accessable.
Also if you haven't already figured it out yet, patchmix has built in dsp fx. To use them click the "FX" button in the top right corner of PM then drag the desired fx into a channels empty slot.

Hey Drugs..Thanks again..Yes, I had actually figure out the DSP FX patches with the stock card before I installed the Emu..BTW, when you import third party VSTi plugs ( pianos, drums, basses, etc.), where would be a good location to put them in Reaper to access them easily...? Thanks..!

All depends on you.
Windows 7 has a cool library thing that can track multiple locations across your pc all viewed in one folder. So I got a studio library setup. It's great.
On xp I created a studio folder in the user directoryand. Everthing goes in there. I have a Projects, VST, Loop/Samples, Impulse Responses, Program Shortcuts.
Remember to tell Reaper where to look in preferences
If you have 7 or vista don't use the program files directory.

well put drugs.
snatch.
ya know starting out to keep it easy on you.
just try doing songs with reaps own plug ins.
otherwise its very easy to spend all yer time
hunting for the next plug in.
paralysis by analysis etc.
and thus what youll find your song creation efforts might loose focus.
its sorta like when i was single.
too many blonds/brunettes//redheads it boggles ones mind. lol.
the greeks used to have a saying viz..
"the more things n possessions you let into your world the more complex
life can become".
eg more plug ins (or relationships..lol..) ..more complications. keep it simple mate to keep your mind from going crazy. whatever you do.
i just see too many people caught up in the plug in mania n loosing
focus on things like "hooks" in songs.

Hey Manning.. Thanks for the reply. I totally agree.. My creative focus has been "stunted" because of this 1820-M..!.( definately makes me wanna plug back into my DI/pre/HD24-XR chain and be done..!..( but I'm intrigued by Reaper so far, so I'll hang in a few more days)...I've used the on board plugs and they are fine.. I just need some instrument plugs ( ie.. piano, organs, strings, etc.) for midi.. I don't see any of those in the menu unless I'm over looking them..
BTW, I still can't get Reaper to accept my input configuration from PatchMix correct.. I've tried setting up new sessions, save it, but when I open Preferences/Device in Reaper,it's different. You can't type in the input arrangement manually..? Seems it would allow this option.. Anyway, I gonna give Emu a few more days, I may have to consider your advice.. Get a simpler interface..!.Anyone wanna trade the Emu for an.....EchoFire 2 or 4..?..Thanks.!

yeah i dont even use the dsp effects, rather use vst's.
Even with a new device your still going to have to set it up in reaper the same way. If you can't get the emu to show up through asio in Reaper then you prolly wont be able to get any other device in there either. I think your missing a step somewhere.
Could you please take a screenshot with emu and reaper device preferences open. Look on your keyboard there should be a print screen button, next paste it in paint and save it to your desktop. email it to me or attach it to a post.
or if you can get your pc temporarily connected to the internet you can DL teamviewer and I can look at your settings myself over the internet.

Hey Drugs.. Thanks again.. Actually, Reaper is getting ASIO in/out.. It's just that on the input configuration where it sees the Emu's input/output channel setup,it list the configration either with lets say, " first: 1L/1R
" last : 2L/2R
Even though I configured all inputs in the setup. (Dock A thru 3L 3R)..Plus, it also send the channel strips info (ie.. strip 3/ insert 2 ) in the configuration also..!..Maybe it's that I need to clean out the registry in Reaper and start over since I'm a little better at this than when I started.. It's probably listing all the set ups I have tried and is "confused" (lol). As far as the ASIO goes, it's playing and recording fine, just only thru two channels ( ie.. 1L/1R )..Thanks..

no need to clean anything cuz it will automatically update them in Reaper. Any way get that usb from your friend I'm gonna make you a session to see how that goes. I'll have it set up in a min

if your problem is getting the tracks to have the inputs you need to click on the VU meter (!! not the io button !!) and it will pop up like this - then you select what you want.
To be able to hear the input you select the record arm button then select the monitor input button.
Sorry if this isn't what your problem is but I'm having a hard time figuring out whats really going on over there for you

Hey Drugs.........YESSSssss..! That's what I'm talking about..!..Thanks a million..It works.!. Got all my inputs/output listed and can choose which ones I need..!..All set up questions aside for now.. I have a couple more questions.(1). Why do Reaper list each of the inputs twice in the list.?( I'm not complaining.(lol).. (2).. I'm trying to use my external 2 channel BLA Sparrow AD converter. I assume it's treated as the rest of the inputs. I tried it but it will not work.. I have it hooked into the SPDIF in on the 1820-M set to external clock...I select it in Reaper ( as I do the rest of inputs, but no signal)..Any Ideals..? Thanks as always...

also if you need more outputs you still got asio out 7-32.
I set you up with asio outs 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 not sure if you would need any more outs than that at one time.

Hey Drugs..I tried the info you gave. The renaming worked, but the SPDIF still doesn't work..Thought it could've beem my cable/AD converter, but I connected both to the input of the Masterlink and it works.. So, probably something I'm missing..Thanks..!

Sorry I haven't replied in a while. I just got married and today is the first day back from the honeymoon. It's been a crazy week.
Anyways if changing the types of spdif input settings in PM doesn't work then I am not sure what else to do. I don't own any spdif devices to test it out. Dunno if there's settings in Reaper you gotta make.

these are the only things i can think of right now
1. the input for spdif is on the pci card in the back of the pc, not the breakout box.
2. try deleting all the adat channels in Emu PM and mess around with the emu spdif adat settings again.
3. try emu internal clock
i got this pic set on using adat, change them to spdif
