Default Sharing a Project with AU Plugin with a Windows user?!

QUESTION FOR YA!

So if a project uses AU Plugins and I want to work on that project in a Windows machine, will these plug-ins work automatically ?!?

I hope I don't have to manually reset all the fx... it would be a nightmare.

Pretty sure that they are not interchangeable.

AU plugins work only on macOS, so I guess a nice nightmare awaits you.

The Snapshot plugin could help you a bit, though.

Freeze the tracks that have AU plugins, at least that will work.

Just to add in case you weren't aware - even VST plugins will only work if the other person also has that plugin installed.

If you can get hold of the VST versions of the plugins, then you should be OK. You will need to install all those VST's on your own machine.

You will probably have to re-populate the FX chains though.<pain>

If they are paid for plugins, you friend might be able to let you have a VST version - your mileage here will vary and depend on the vendor and their licencing terms.

repopulate as in adding the fx again in VST format and tweaking the settings?

If VST version of plugin have only visible controls (so all values presented when you change FX GUI to sliders-only noGUI view) and vendor does share same parameters of plugin at same order, you can try script mpl_Copy/Paste FX data.lua from ReaPack - it copy/paste list of all parameters of plugin, FX envelopes, MIDI learn and linking through offline>>online, broken>>working, VST<<>>AU plugins.
