Default replacing item_bg_sel.png and item_bg.png

Maybe here is the right thread for my problem:

I want to replace the item_bg_sel.png an item_bg.png in the standard theme.

So I renamed it to xxx.zip, unpacked it, changed the files with the new ones, zip the folder (without compression), and rename it to xxx.ReaperThemeZip.
When I now select this new theme in Reaper it looks like the creepy Reaper 1 theme.

Where is my mistake?

What do you mean by "Standard" theme. Do you mean the default 4.0 theme? It sounds like you unpacked the old classic theme. Use the Default_4.0.ReaperThemeZip.

Hope that helps.

Of course I meant the default theme.
I tried it another time, still the same error. After "customizing" it with just 2 files, it looks like the classic reaper 1 theme.
Sadly I didn't back up my original theme. Now there are just Reaper 1 looking themes...

It seems that what you've done is re-zip a folder that contains the .ReaperTheme and the images folder ... i.e.:

>theme folder <----------- you zipped this folder, which contains the following:
>> theme.ReaperTheme
>> theme images folder

It's an easy mistake to make, but it's incorrect. What you need to do, is re-zip only the theme file and images folder "flat" - you should not be zipping up a folder that contains them, if I'm making sense? I.e. - select the images folder and the .ReaperTheme file, and zip them; then rename to .ReaperThemeZip. If you get stuck, or it still doesn't make sense, attach your .ReaperThemeZip to a post here and I'll sort it out for you - don't worry, you haven't lost your theme

Install the portable version of REAPER on your desktop so you can get the original theme files back.
