First Solo Release in the works - would love your input!
I've been working on this album in my spare time the last year or so. I've already spent probably too much time on these, so I think it's about time I finish them up, release them, and move on to creating more.

Not super focused as far as genre, but they're all instrumental, repetitive (and probably too long and boring), and a mix of electronic and guitar/bass. I guess I'm going for chilled-out background music (for a late night walk or study session).
Let me know what you think! I've been recording/mixing for a decent amount of time, but would be interested to know what you think works and what doesn't.
Thanks for your time!
EDIT: Album has been completed and released, but comments are still more than welcome.

Sounds good, definitely hits the mark for chilled background music.
I would have thought this kind of thing might be popular for music library sales, if that's something you'd consider.

Thanks for taking time to listen ... funny you mention the music library thing - the last major project I was involved in was doing sound design/background music for a scripted podcast, and that process must have still been on the mind when working on these tracks.
I was just planning on throwing it up on Spotify/iTunes and all that just as a passion/vanity project, but anything involving sales would be of interest Have you done that before, or know where one would start?

No, it's not something I've done personally, sorry.
When I looked into it before I was considering AudioBlocks, I guess I must have read up on some forums and they do non-exclusive deals so you could still sell it elsewhere, but I think you need 100 audio clips to submit to them to show that you are prolific and consistent.

Not sure how effective it is, but Jamendo is one site I'm aware of where you can make your music available for commercial use. No doubt there are many more.

Very cool - thanks! That looks like it's non-exclusive, which is ideal. Will definitely look into it (and others, I'm sure).

Thanks! That was one that I was worried would come off as long and boring - hopefully you're not just saying that because we have the same name

Yeah, it's kinda like high quality TV illustrational music. Altough maybe a bit too attention grabbing (for TV stuff, that is) in places, I associate typical library stuff with something more bland and backgroundy. And here there's almost slowed-down-Tycho vibe in places.

Like it.
Yet, instrumentals needs to be something special for me to keep my interest.
Well mixed

I definitely appreciate that comparison!! Tycho has definitely been a huge influence, so if I can even almost get to that vibe, I'm stoked!

Thanks!! Just putting the final touches on the album art, and I'll be uploading the finished album within the next few days.
A little surprised not to get any mix criticisms, but I won't complain that nothing sounds too terrible

Cool stuff! Your opening song almost has an oriental air to it with the plucky kalimba-ish sounds and the scales they play in.

Updated the OP with a new link - it's officially released! ... it's also on Spotify/iTunes/Google/Amazon/etc, in case anyone cares!

Now that you mention it, I can hear that as well - wasn't my intention, but I'll take it!

Great work and very atmospheric music! "Flow" touched me. And the last tune concluded the album in a beautiful way.
Very well done!

Thank you for giving it a listen! Flow is the most recent track I worked on, I'm glad it came across as intended.

Cool! Well done overall, I say. I'm on the fourth song now. The only criticism I have is at one point on the first song (Wayback) the thought jumped into my head that you were using the same velocities for all of the mallet (?) hits at one point when they were out front and exposed, which made it sound a little too robotic/computerized. There's plenty of variation throughout the song, it was just that one section that leaped out at me.

Thanks for listening and comments
I won't disagree with the points about the robotic/computerized nature of Wayback, the lead was all recorded in one take (probably the longest successful take on keys I've ever had) and, not being a great keyboardist, glaring errors/timing issues were sorted out in post. Glad it wasn't too distracting, though!
