Default Intermittent access to reviewing games on web

Starting a while back now I noticed that sometimes I can review old games on the wifight website, and sometimes (e.g. now) I can't. I get a "Not Available..but that could change" message. This seems to coincide with the five boards at the top of the page showing the status of either current games, or games from the distant past.

Just wondering if it's a server- or client-side thing..

Heh, busted. Yep, it is intermittent, because it keeps crashing the webserver. We (Dan and I) have been trying different things but haven't solved the problem yet. So sometimes it's been turned on and sometimes off. Right now it's off until we can think of another thing to try to get it working. Nice catch

Just wondering if there is any chance of any progress with this in the near future.

I was planning another wifight "lure" for little golem members - to come and play the new and exciting rcr! It would be good to be able to link to a couple of our existing games of rcr, so people could see the potential.

On this note, also, it would be good perhaps if each played game instance had some unique ID, e.g. an accession number, so one could easily retrieve a game of interest.

Yep, this feature is gonna come out of hibernation sooner or later. In fact, heck, I'm re-enabling it right now, even if it's a bit crashy. (That's what aremysitesup.com was made for right)

Each game has a unique 32-digit ID. This shows up in the URL like so:

Code:
http://wifight.com/games/reversi-rcr/dfaf7e211c221549bcc5e80fc7ce9ad7
is you and L1quid playing RCR.

The format is:

Code:
http://wifight.com/games/(gamename)/(32 digit gameid)?no=(turn #)
You can leave off the (gamename) if you like, and just use:

Code:
http://wifight.com/games/(32 digit gameid)?no=(turn #)
It will redirect to the full URL with gamename.

So each turn has a specific URL, too, for example http://wifight.com/games/reversi-rcr...c7ce9ad7?no=52 for turn #52. Specifying the turn # is optional. If you don't specify it, it will show the latest turn.

Thanks for all that Brennan

I notice however that many games still show up "not available". You can get them to work if you click on them anyway.

I was wanting to use this game as one demo for little golem

http://wifight.com/games/reversi-rcr...d8c0314d80f64a

and it has this feature, which might be disconcerting

Hmm, it worked when I tried it just now. Maybe your web browser was caching the old image? Had you looked at that page previously/recently?

We still haven't gotten all the bugs out of it yet. It might still work better some times than others.
