Default Multiple Behringer UMC1820 Issues

I have two Behringer UMC1820s linked together via optical connection for a total of 16 simultaneous inputs of recording. The second one has the optical out to the optical in of the master. The UMC ASIO driver is able to list all the inputs from the master unit and the second unit lists the inputs as ADAT (see attached image) but will not pass audio into Reaper for any of the additional channels listed as ADAT. Is there some configuration I'm missing?
Thanks,

Hello and welcome to the forums!
Dont forget to download the free User guide and check out the free video tutorials on the front page of this very site.
For some soppy reason, the Powers That Be hid the Newbie section way down in the middle of the list of forum sections, btw.
Might get a better quicker response there than here in the main forum.

Unless I am mistaken Reaper needs to be looking at JUST the one UM and all the shuffling of I/O should be done from within the UMs own mix software. It does HAVE mix software, doesnt it?

Basing this on how my RME card behaved with 2 Behringer ADA8000 earlier and a pair of focusrite ADAT I/Os now.

I think the ADAT source needs to be the master clock, unless you use external clocking. Have you tried that?

Reaper does see it as just one UMC1820 with channels 9-18 as ADAT inputs in the device configuration as I am only using a single USB connection to it. Reaper lists all the channels but I can't get any audio input from any of the ADAT channels. Also, the UMC1820 mixer lists all the channels as well and all are zero'd for max input.

Tried that and still no audio in the ADAT channels.

Are you sure you can use ADAT in standalone mode? I happened to talk to a friend who owns one and he was quite sure the ADAT ports can't be used in standalone mode.

By standalone mode, do you mean use ADAT ports with a single unit?

Looks like this may be the answer. I'm going through the GearSlutz thread on this and it looks like the ADA8200 is going to work. Dammit.

I mean it works with the 1820 as interface and an 8200 ADAT unit connected to it. Not with two 1820's.

But Bikerider seems to know it's a bug, so there's hope Behringer might fix that bug in a future firmware update.

It's fustrating because you can see all of the channels in Reaper with the UMC ASIO driver & ASIO4ALL but only the master unit gets any audio input.
