error initializing ASIO... with edirol FA-66

Hi. I just installed Reaper on my Win XP DAW, so i could finish mixing a project that a friend started on his laptop.

I configured the Audio system in preferences to use ASIO, and then for the driver chose my Edirol FA-66.

in the "enable inputs" field, there are no options listed in the drop-down menu...

when I go to play the audio, I get the following message:

Error creating audio: Error initializing ASIO driver (please configure your audio device in Preferences/Audio Devices)

But there is nothing more to configure.

Anyone else have to overcome this obstacle yet? Thanks very much for any help!
