Justin: One question, is it ok to use 3rd party plugins in the screens, or should everything be native Reaper?

Default Screenshot instructions

Set up REAPER
be sure REAPER's main window has the focus
Press Alt+PrtScrn for the current window
Or Prt+Scrn for the whole screen
-- you have copied a screenshot as bitmap into the clipboard
Open an image editor and paste the image in
-- I recommend the free IrfanView and the pngout plugin
Save as .png, name it something sensible
-- now the screenshot is a small file on your hard disk
Go to www.stashbox.org
press browse, browse to the screenshot, press upload
-- now it's somewhere public
get the "img" link right at the top
it will look like this

paste it into your forum post
-- voila!

if it's huge, you can paste the link - second link, and people have to go to stashbox to see it, but it doesn't fill up the forum. It will look like this

[ url=<url>]<url again>
the "url again" is the name - change it if you like before posting

I should pay you for the tip on the screenshot thing with xp...

Been using XP forever and didn't know it would do that...

Cool Tip! Thanks!

Also, it IS interesting that you got vbulletin to show brackets...

Guess it's the coder in me coming out. (grin)

http://www.larryseyer.com/reaperscreen.jpg

(Those are custom fader knobs... couldn't stand to play around without trying some tweaks... here's a link to them if you want: http://www.larryseyer.com/fader_h.bmp and http://www.larryseyer.com/fader_v.bmp)

I wish that we could specify ALL of the bitmaps for every section of the theme... (i.e. not just colors, but full bitmaps of every area).

Best to all!

Larry

Just checked this site after a LOOOONG time.

This one looks nice. What theme is that?

Not to take this thread OT, but just curious : Does reaper have an audio metronome yet?

That is the Go North theme icons, but with some other color theme. Check the themes section of the board for downloads.

Scratch project to learn Reaper using Recube theme with GoWestphx icons (I find them easier to read):

Taken from laptop in study (no connection to normal input device) in case anyone wondered about DirectSound

Rene,
are you saying the audio metronome is the click track that was there from the first, or a new dedicated "invisible" audio metronome just like sonar/ext/whatever.

Also, can someone post a link to that theme? When i go home, i might try that. I'm still on some old version (1.06 or something like that, i think).

nice! i never would have found it otherwise.

what about the color theme? can it be found somewhere on the message boards?

it reminds me of samplitude even though there's some differences. i definitely can see myself working long hours with this one.

My GoNorth theme icons and colors are inspired by Renoise.
Look at the sceenshot from SRR.
Try also the GoWest theme. (Alistair S screenshot).

Does anyone know what COLOR theme SRR used in the screenshot he posted? I really like that one! I'm looking for one to settle down with and to stop switching color themes all the time (kind of like girlfriends).

Ooops sorry didn't check in for awhile, yes that is "Go North", with the go north icon set as well. Tried a bunch of the other ones, but I felt most at home with go west at first, but now I use go north.

One Akoustic theme...? way too few

I really think it is Akoustic who finally gave REAPER the very sophisticated but sober looks that suits our beloved program like a glove.

There are about 2 million things I don't understand in this world. One of them is why Justin doesn't choose Akoustic as the designer of REAPER's native skin. There's real designer quality in his approach and individual style. The rest imho is amateuristic bric-à-brac...

The Akoustic skin is fine, not as good as Alpha 2, but pretty good non the less.

Terry, you'll know the difference between a half full and a half empty bottle of Dom Perignon.

I'd read my own remark (pseudo-harsh & with a wink!) as an invitation to theme/icon designers to come up with something as good as the job Akoustic did. So far imo it really stands out as an authentic and fitting new REAPER look.

Some other new icons etc. are (very) fine as well, but Akoustic balanced it all out as a real designer - IMO that is.

Look at the bottom left corner of this page at the box showing you what you can and can't do.
In there click on [ IMG ] and there you have the instructions for posting REAL screenshots and not just links to pics!

You should really update the screenshots on the homepage, even though they are done recently, the new version really improved the looks of the program, here is a screen for you (trying to get people to use my theme )
