Default Recording/overdub over one looped MIDI item? (SOLVED)

Hi there,

I cannot find the solution to this problem :
I have a midi track with one looped midi item that is repeated 8 times.
I'd like to record (overdub) a new midi item in the same track, during this already existing looped item. I do not want to change the existing looped item.
And I cannot manage how to do it.... It refuses to record anything new between the beginning and end of this looped item...
Note that I can record a new item before or after this item, but not in between.

Any idea ?

The record mode for that track is set to"midi overdub"? Then change it to "Record: input(audio or MIDI)". Also see if "Options>New recording that overlaps existing media items" is set to "Creates new items". The way reaper midi overdub works is it adds new events into existing items. In your case this would only work during the first original pass of the item and not during its repetitions.

Thanks! I did not understand this overdub feature. I had a look at some tutorial and now it's clearer.
