Yeah, I back everything up all the time; it's not a data security question (though it might be for people with poor backup procedures), just a convenience/workflow thing. Sometimes it's nice to know what you're about to erase, and it's currently a pain to find out.

Hi,

I became aware of the import_from_track_to_buffer() a few days ago (when reviewing the Reaper update features).

It's an interesting and unexpected feature.

It would be nice to have the reciprocal function:
an import_from_track_to_buffer().
This would make offline processing possible with JSFX.

I think of effects/processings such as "backward reverb" and all sorts of granular/deconstructive/reconstrutive effects

Maybe a more specific kind of jsfx would suit offline processing.
JSFX with a sort of @buffer section
