Default OSX v. 2.44 : can't "add plug-ins"

I just installed the 2.44 version on my alu powerbook.
No way to add plug-ins using the track's FX windows ... ?

make sure your fx browser isn't already up or docked. For some reason mine's become docked by default upon opening and if I click on the track's fx windows nothing will pop as the fx browser's already out
