Just downloaded the free NI Replica Delay. It looks VERY nice for a freebie.
Cant test the sound at work but it has alot going for it just considering the features and the UI.

I downloaded it - took a few hours for the email to arrive.
Unfortunately -It needs ::: Replika requires graphics hardware support for OpenGL 2.1
A lot of older chipsets cant upgrade to these requirements... CRAZY

A delay plugin. 127 MB. HOW THE HELL. IR files I guess for their diffusion algorithm. That just seems slightly overkill?

Their authorization center app is 25 mb
64 bit Dll is 42 mb
32 bit dll is 37 mb
I havent had a chance to listen and test yet but I read the manual and this delay has alot going for it.

works fine. Its a delay with added stuff like phasing....
The other stuff is not a lot of use, especially the £22 discount, but I suppose it IS all free.

Although I do not like NI focusing more and more on DJ stuff, this plugin is a great gift, I like it - one decent release this year for me and it´s even free - Thanks a lot to the OP and to NI !

Crashed Reaper five times during initial few uses, seems to have settled down now. It's a nice delay, would not be worth buying if it was over $50 but is one of those plugins that puts a popular delay method spanning multiple plugins 'all-in-one', so its a time saver. And can't argue with free. Can, however, argue with having to download VST32 and AAX files with their installer when I don't need them.
I really prefer mini-installers such as Microsoft uses for their downloads page. A 1-3mb installer is downloaded, and then it walks you through what aspects to download of the software, and then downloads it and finishes the install after its done. Much more efficient and a model I really hope gets picked up on soon as a standard. That, and delta packed downloading.

From the NI site --Replika -issues with Reaper
a) In Cubase and Reaper we have seen a scanning crash during the very first startup after installing Replika. This only happens once, then works fine.
b) We have seen random crashes when unplugging Replika. These were reported for Live 9, Studio One and Reaper..
If anyone knows a workaround for using OpenGL 2.1 on older chipsets - Please Post..thanks....

I got an error message on first scan:
Quote:
Plug-in 'Replica.dll' executed invalid operation during scanning.
Note: if REAPER crashes as a result of this, simply run it again and it will continue on the next plug-in.
|
REAPER didn't crash until I hit the FX button. On restart, REAPER loads ok, but there is no sign of Replica....

NI must spend days coming up with names that have K in them
now if Justin got into that way of thinking we'd likely have KoKos
or perhaps KooKoos

Talking of NI free gifts
As I understand it (am I wrong) owners of Abbey road drums are supposed to be able to update to Abbey Road Drummer free of charge.
On the web site they seem to allude to this but I can not see a way to do this from there or from my account. I have written to support however after many days have had no reply.
Has any of you any knowledge as to how to get this free update please?

Just double click on NI´s "Service Center" Icon and select and download update.
There are quite a lot of NI updates; when you click "i" (info), it says
what´s new:
- Controller Page sections for NI Hardware added
- Support for KOMPLETE KOntrol-S-Series
I do not have any NI Hardware, so I do not update.
ok, Abbey Road Drummer update adds new mixer snapshots !
No issues here, I tested plugin in a session with 35 traakcs and 78 plugins and even used Automation and/or Modulation of some Parameters. Win7/64bit/8GBRam
It´s pretty strange that I ve received two emails from NI to download Replica plugin with two different serial numbers ?!

I have Abbey Road on my Auth manager as un-authorised, but I have no idea what it came with or why I need to authorise it IF I did indeed get it bundled with something.
Confusing.
But since I doubt I would use it..... who cares?

FYI: The delay requires online registration and that you create an NI account.
(Personally I couldn't be arsed and opted to uninstall.)

Thank you Giano and Copacetic for your replies.
Unfortunately my audio computer can never go online.
Downloads and products I might try that although they show no new downloads
(I downloaded and installed Kontakt 5 however no "Grooves" shows up)This is what put me on to the fact that I do not have "Drummer" installed.
I shall have a look at service center I do not think I tried that one. NI seemed pretty good with visible updates until this lot...
Thanks again

Also experienced the crash on first launch after installing. Seems to work fine since then though.
This is a really great sounding delay. Super easy to use and quite versatile. Probably one of the better freebies i've gotten.

Same events and sentiment here eso. First time successful use dragged a bit before the sound engine fully caught up to speed, but then good ever since. I am really liking NI products - just wish the pricing were better.

How can I get REAPER to acknowledge Replika, once it has decided to skip it, without clearing my cache and rescanning all my VSTs?

Did you search for it in the filter box? I had the same one time crash, and when I reopened Reaper it was not showing as a new plugin because reaper sort of scanned it already. I searched for it on the bottom and it was there.

Replika sounds great here with Win 7 and Reaper 4.75. No problems. The wormhole preset sounds great with a Tele and S-Gear. Sounds sort of like playing a Tele through Absynth.

Yup. I have one plug-in displayed in a list filtered for 'repl', and a few NI bits and bobs in a list filtered for 'nati', but no Replika. After the initial scanning attempt failed, REAPER simply skipped Replika, and has been ignoring it ever since.

Weird. That's a bummer. It totally failed on first load for me too, but it appeared after the search.
