Default Hydra - iZ [Mod of Hydra by Blankfiles]

Firstly, all credit to Blankfiles who has an incredible talent for making some wonderful reaper themes! - Thanks!

This is a mod of Hydra. I wanted to inject a little more colour into it, so took inspiration from the current iZotope suite of product and borrowed most of the colouring from there. I also reworked a few of the icons to suit my tastes a little more.

Thought I would share if anyone else was interested, but I don't expect to develop it too much further. I may tackle custom toolbar icons (using Default 6.0 at the moment), or I may not as it seems like a lot of work.

If I had to tackle all the Walter and images from scratch, I don't think I would have done this - even reworking another theme is quite a decent time sucker! I certainly have a new respect for the fantastic themers in this community!

If anyone finds it useful, great! Its in the stash here: https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/2446/H...0-%20iZ%20v1.3

Let me know if you find anything I've obviously overlooked or stuffed up and be kind - it's my first attempt at this!

ps. No offence meant for reusing the Hydra name - I felt it was more respectful to keep it in there...

I noticed you're using the alternate transport with this variation. Is there an option for the original Hydra transport?

I'm slowly tackling the toolbar icons and might include the other transport while I do that. Will let you know when it's done.

hmm... that's weird, does it happen when you open other themes? Maybe share a screenshot?

What I liked about the original transport that Blankfiles did was the he put everything together and didn't spread the elements out. Some may call that a waste of screen real estate (and they would be right) but it allows you to better dock the transport in a toolbar and then use other toolbars on either side of the transport for more icons and actions.

PS No rush on the mods your doing. I don't rely on this theme except on my laptop (smaller screen).

Other themes seem ok, however if this happened before I probably just deleted the theme. I tried this on my laptop Amy my tower and it happens on both machines. That's too bad because I liked the look of this theme. I like dark themes.

Wow!
This thing looks beautiful.

It also kind of puts me in the mind of Studio One.

--------------

Some requests though:

1) Maybe make the Midi Editor lighter. It is very dark.
2) It would be great if the MCP Track Template as a blank divider also has a copy which shows the track name.

Hi all,

Thanks for the interest!

I'm working on an update at the moment. I'll include the larger transport and updated toolbar icons. I'll see how I go with a named divider - if I can make it look ok, then I'll include that too.
Regarding the Midi editor background, you can tweak this one yourself using the theme tweaker - type "theme" into the action list and you'll find it and change the colours for "MIDI Editor Background". There's a few of them there.

Will let you know when I'm done - bear with me!

Ok, I've updated the first post with the new version 1.1

I've included the large transport, the main few toolbar icons and added a new MCP layout for separators with labels.

Let me know how you get on!

Cheers,

Tim

Minor update to 1.2 which fixes a couple of quirks:

MCP Inserts Label
End Folder icon in sidebar layout

See the first post

Hi Yimbot
Great theme mod, I really like it and have strong feeling that this might become my default once I figure out how to arrange some buttons.
I know that you wrote that you do not plan to develop it too much, but I found a small error that you can work on if you have nothing better to do.
Left side of track input border and "slope" on bottom-right corner inside in TCP is stretching and probably shouldn't.
here is the link to the gif with a slightly exaggerated presentation of the problem

Hey Frantick,

That's clearly a bug - thanks for pointing it out!

I had a couple of minor nitpicky things of my own to update anyway...

Updated to v1.3 with the link in the first post.

ps. what were you thinking of rearranging out of interest?

I wasn't a fan of FX buttons in TCP, but they grew on me plus
once I started to fiddle with your work I placed Transport bar on very top and there is a lot of free space there, instantly I felt like adding stuff from my custom toolbar there will be second greatest idea after inventing the wheel

Yimbot I sent you a PM a few days back. I use the original Hydra on my laptop, but with a twist. If memory serves Blankfiles based the big transport layout on SONAR from Cakewalk. I took some of the elements from SONAR (mostly the transport buttons and status background) and put them into my version of Hydra. If you want 'em let me know.

That's what I love about the transport in this theme, it doesn't take up a lot of space and you can dock it at the top and put other toolbars next to it, or out the transport in the middle with docks on either side of your monitor is wide enough.

Thanks Mate,
I didn’t get a notification of a PM, so sorry I missed it...
That would be great, I’ll respond with my email address.

Cheers! - Tim

Default Master metering using more than 2 channels

It looks very good, thanks !
Is there a way to set the master metering when using more than 2 channels, because we can’t read the different channels peaks very well. Thanks

Default can't have color on channel strip and entire track

Do you have any clue or suggestion on why I can't colorize the entire track rather than only the band?
Thank you
