Default LCS Bug fix of Albert-C (Solaris Pro) theme

11/28/2017
Bug fix of Albert-C (Solaris Pro) theme.
The goal was just to fix things that were broken and make some tweaks for better usability.

This is a large, fullscreen theme.
It is not flexible and not recommended for laptops or other small screens.
This theme is for users with basic needs and a large screen.
The layouts are limited to 2 for the MCP and 2 for the TCP.
The MCP Master has 4 layouts, but 2 are just lowered versions of the other 2.
This is so the Master track can be aligned with the MCP when there is a low count of tracks with no scrollbar at the bottom.

get it from Stash:
LCS_BugFix_ ALBERT-C ( SOLARIS-PRO )

INSTRUCTIONS:
- click on the link above
- download the theme from the Stash page the link opens
- unzip the downloaded file
- copy the theme file into Repear's color theme folder
- open Reaper

FIXES & TWEAKS
- altered MCP Pan knob to function like a pan instead of a volume level knob
- created Stereo and Dual Pan faders, knobs, backgounds and layouts for MCP and TCP and both Masters.
- various tweaks to the Transport to help it match the theme better.
- changed Solo to yellow and Mute to red to follow along with the Default theme.
- changed TCP default layout so Name label will stretch to make it bigger
- created a TCP volume fader/slider for the compact view.
- changed the TCP FXparm so the active FX no longer appear to be muted.
- added the FX-In button the right side of the Recinput box.
- adjusted the text margins in the MCP and TCP name labels.
- changed recarm off from red to red tinted gray and auto from red to yellow LED to clarify status better
- fixed ENV Preview for MCP and Global ENV.
- fixed the background for the Global ENV text.
- fixed various other little bugs and made so many little tweaks I lost track.

NEW LAYOUTS:
- created new TCP layout with a longer name showing in the smallest position.
- created lowered version of the default layout for when the scrollbar is hidden
- created several fader colors and added layouts for them in the MCP.
- created a Big Meter layout and a lowered version of it for when the scrollbar is hidden.
- created several knob colors for the Big Meter layouts and added layouts for them in the MCP.

SCREENSHOTS: (these are big, unless you have a 4K monitor)
Default Layout
Default layout with Dual Pan mode and Fader Colors
Default layout with Stereo Pan mode

I downloaded Solaris Pro theme it does not match the description you have in your posting.
Did you by chance upload the wrong version of the theme?

I tested just now using the following steps:
- clicked on the link in my first post
- downloaded the theme from the Stash page the link opens
- unzipped the downloaded file
- copied the theme file into Repear's color theme folder
- opened Reaper and loaded the theme

It work fine for me.
I added the instructions to first post in case unzipping was the issue.
Please note that if you are trying to use it on a small screen or low resolution screen, it will not work and and at best , will not look like my sceenshots.

I unzipped the file double clicked the reaper icon.

I looked at the rt file it shows that four layouts for the mixer, but when you try to change the mixer layout only two are shown.
Also the track view also only shows two layouts.

Is this theme a version 4 or version 5, I noticed no version 5 statement in the rt file.

Thanks for your response.

This is a Version 4 theme.
There are only 2 layouts for the mixer (not counting fader colors).
The RTCONFIG only has 2 layouts for the MCP.
- - The Master MCP has 4 layouts, but 2 are just lowered versions of the other 2.
- - The lowered versions are for low track count situations where the scrollbar is not present.
- - Using the lowered version in that scenario aligns the Master with the MCP tracks.

The following comments are from the Theme's download page on Stash:

This -is- the 'previous Solaris'.
This is the first one, the only one that Albert made.
It was never finished and had many bugs in it that made it hard to use even for basic needs.
This is the theme I used as the starting point to create version #1 of Solaris_LCS.

Track view - I think the cu meter in the track view in the previous Solaris is much better where you can increase or decrease the size of the cu meter.

Mixer view - the fx slots at the top of the tracks malfunction when the view is less than full screen, was not a problem in previous version.

Thank you for appreciating what I did with with my Solaris_LCS theme, but you do understand that this theme is not mine?
It really is just a bug-fix of Albert's original, unfinished beta theme with some enhancements thrown in.
Please don't compare it to the work I put into Solaris_LCS.
This one is very different from that one since the goal here is different.
This one should only be compared to Albert's beta, which can be downloaded here from the Stash site.

I considered adding the expandable TCP meter feature for you, but I hesitate because you also wrote this:

This statement tells me you either didn't read or didn't understand what I wrote in my first post.

I'll re-state for clarity:
- This a Fullscreen only theme.
- It is designed for a large display with the mixer expanded to fullscreen
- It is not flexible, the mixer layouts only work correctly at fullscreen.
- Do not use it on a laptop or a small screen
- Do not use this theme if your workflow requires complex layouts or a mixture of layouts because it only has 2 layouts for the MCP and the TCP

Taking into account other things you've mentioned elsewhere about what you need in a theme, I think this theme is just too simple to satisfy your needs, but thanks for taking a look.

nice work ... I think I found a bug or maybe it is intentional for some reason..

using the latest reaper and also the latest pre version... when editing a marker to have a text name, the text does not show up... only the number shows...

The image files you have to alter are mcp_extmixbg and mcp_extmixbgsel

These affect the colour of the whole extended mixer section which includes the insert effects list, effects parameters and sends list.

Currently they are filled with a solid colour.

If you want your track colour to come through into the the extended mixer area you have to apply either full transparency to the two images mentioned above, or at lease some level or partial transparency if you want to impart a certain amount of tint to that track colour.

The other images linked to the extended mixer section are:-

mcp_arrowbuttons_ud
mcp_fxlist_arrows
mcp_fxlist_bg
mcp_fxlist_byp
mcp_fxlist_empty
mcp_fxlist_norm
mcp_fxparm_arrows
mcp_fxparm_bg
mcp_fxparm_byp
mcp_fxparm_empty
mcp_fxparm_knob_bg
mcp_fxparm_knob_stack
mcp_fxparm_norm
mcp_fxparm_off
mcp_send_knob_stack
mcp_sendlist_arrows
mcp_sendlist_bg
mcp_sendlist_empty
mcp_sendlist_meter
mcp_sendlist_midihw
mcp_sendlist_mute
mcp_sendlist_norm

I hope that helps

This is a Reaper 4 theme, so it's controlled by the settings in the Options/Preferences menu.

If your theme is a Reaper 5 or 6 theme , then, as synkrotron mentioned in his post above, the main image files to alter are:
mcp_extmixbg
mcp_extmixbgsel
If adjusting the transparency level for those 2 images aren't enough, you will need to alter some of the others he listed.

Default Clip Meter issue with Reaper V6

Thanks for your work on this Lucas, still my favourite theme.

I have noticed an issue since upgrading to Reaper V6. If any of the track meters clip (hit red) you can't reset the red light by clicking on it (as you could previously). Example image attached.

The only way I've found to reset a red meter is to change theme, click the meter and then switch back to the Solaris theme. Any suggestions on how to fix that would be gratefully received. Thanks.

I just checked it's working for me.
only needs a single click to clear the red overload at the top of the meter.

If you meant the issue is on the TCP Master, I never use that and forgot update it.
Please confirm that is the issue you're having and I'll do another update in a few days.

If the issue is still happening on the regular TCP track layout, then try downloading the theme again.

Thanks.
I tested with the default theme and it didn't work for me there either.
It doesn't appear to be theme specific for me.

Hopefully someone with knowledge about mouse modifiers will chime in with a solution.

The problem with that in this theme is that there is actually no empty track control panel area where it would work, it's all covered with the pan. Mouse over tip will show this and it can be confirmed by double clicking on empty TCP area; instead of selecting all items on the given track it will reset the pan.

There are also other themes with the similar hack where the image of one specific control covers too big area of the TCP, thus preventing the usual empty track panel area behavior and/or causing surprising results.

@ xpander
no sweat.
Thanks for the help identifying the issue.

@ xoixa
Thanks for notifying me about the bug.
I will need to make some changes to the graphics and work out the new sizes for the 3 items that need to be altered to fix this, so it will might take a week or two depending how much time I can give it.

Default Awesome Theme!

Couple things...

First... the Theme looks totally awesome!

However, the Prev/Next Marker buttons in the transport are screwed up on my download. The 'Next' button looks like it's misplaced.

Also, this is just a question - don't know if it is even possible.

Can we get a version that replaces the 'Pan' knob with a 'Send' knob?

If you're asking for a send knob to replace the Pan knob in it's current position, no it's not possible as far as I know.
If you just want control over the send volume without opening the I/O window, then the graphic on the right side of the send slot is the volume knob for that send.
click/drag down and up for for raising and lowering the send volume.

No, I have no plans to mod the PRO X-TOOLS GOLD ED (PUBLIC) theme on Stash.
If you are using any other version, then check with Albertxxxx about any issues you're having if the instructions below don't fix the issue for you.

Thanks for all your hard work and efforts on this Lucas.

I use them extensively, and if I knew how to create one I surely wouldn't be bothering you.

Thanks again for doing a thankless job!
