Default MPL - Dissolve into drops of fire (modular/electronic/acid/ethnic)

https://soundcloud.com/mpl57/dissolv..._drops_of_fire

http://youtu.be/JPSByYLFGqc

A little dive into modular stuff and time signatures like...
15/16> 12/16 > 15/16 > 4/4 LOL

Enjoy

I like it, quite crazy, Aphex Twin come and take courses from you. For the modular short tones, I would prefer some more pleasing sounds, I like the variety, the original rhythms those are already crazy enough, more craziness with the modular sharp tones, I would replace by pleasing sequence tones, more into the consonant direction, kind of bringing light into the scene.

Brilliant. How is this done? HW modular gear or scripts?

I haven`t any HW gear. Yet
Mostly it`s Reaktor, VCV rack, Kamiooka, Arturia Modular. If you mean sound aka trackFX/mixer/routing level.

What about doing things in the track/items level - mostly manual work, cropping and finding best match time signatures, syncopes. But yes, I use some custom scripts - generating and sharing clock beetween tracks with reaktor ensembles, snapping envelopes vertically to make it match CV pitch data. Some deep stuff for VCV Rack patches. But really nothing specific with scripts in case of art. Because what I usually do is not really automatable (so it is hours of manual work but it not something like "1000 of clicks I can do with 3 lines of loop code").

First I must say that I find it hard to ignore my admiration of your coding skills in evaluating you music. That said, I must also admit that my sense of timing and rhythm suck, and songs with odd time signatures often seem just wrong to me. However, you have managed to make all of the strange time signatures you use feel right and reasonable, with no awkward transitions. Much respect for that. I enjoyed both sounds and rhythms. Well done all around. Which of the plugins/scripts that you have developed did you use in recording this?

Nice! Very Dense. That would be a lot of work to put together.

Not if you use 3 lines of loop code.

Thanks! Although REAPER is good, I prefer to do all the work manually instead using lots of great scripts me and ReaTeam command did in the past. Old habbits, nothing to do with them.

I use mpl_RS5k manager to handle some drums data in link with Reaktor, which generates patterns to me (like Euclidean Rhythm). Not all drums, there are a lot of things impossible to do with MIDI.
mpl_Create Reacomp sidechain routing - is a must have to me since I use multilevel sidechain compression (like: group bus from kick/snare, then same bus from bass, which is also sidechain-pressed from kick/snare).
mpl_Assign audio input parameter modulation with last touched parameter also make things work faster.

I still have trouble with MIDI/OSC bindings in the project. Near impossible to track learn among lots of track FX. It seems I have to build something to handle this data globally (per project).

Or this: https://mikemorenoaudio.wordpress.co...nerator-guide/

Regarding the midi bindings, if you wait a bit, mescopine will bugfix ultraschall-api, then I was planning to do something as well, maybe you read it already, but of course you can do it before me as well, or something else, then we would have multiple solutions. See https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=447

"audio input parameter modulation"
What are you modulating with audio input for example?

Chunking is shit. Especially if it must handle lots of data with big projects.
I prefer to wait until release of native API.

If you mean this track, it is hard pressed FFT compressor spectral masking value sidechained from lowpassed itself on some background drums, for example. It is more about something special then regular routing things.

As long as it works, and the data to be written are only tiny midi mapping values, and it needs to be done once per project. Anything which works, always, 100%, is good.

It looks like: 1) you don`t know how it works under the hood; 2) you didn`t work with pretty large projects with tons of hardweight NI plugins and lot of MIDI/OSC mapping.
So, bad idea to do that with chunking. Maybe it works nice for small projects with plugins which store small amount of data inside RPP.

mpl, very interesting track you created! Different than what I listen to usually, but I like it very much.
