Default ctrl + left click + drag

this is just a small thing.
when we press ctrl and left click and drag we can duplicate files, items, notes etc.
it would be a big improvement for me if when i start dragging an item and then press ctrl i could get the same behavior

If I understand well what you’re asking, You might take a look under prefs/mouse modifiers...
You’ll probably find what you’re looking for and much more! It’s very impressive how you can customize all your modifiers!

+1 from me. This would help a lot. If you forget you wanted to actually copy instead of move, you can keep the selection and simply hit the modifier.

+1 would be very much better specially because we have huge amount of modifier and huge amount of them with bad icons.

Also request: Escape to cancel the drag - since some times we just want to cancel and at this point we need to cancel by dropping carefully in a place where it doesn't change anything.

Default ctrl+drag

so, the dev team doesnt even consider implementing this?

i may be wrong but that change doesnt feel it will be that much work.

also, implementing it wont break reaper behavior for users that are already used to clicking ctrl before starting the drag. it will only fix reaper behavior for those who are used to different behavior

+2 ESC aborts drag

Yes, retroactive control. We now have retroactive record, having retroactive ctrl would be amazing.

Maybe I have to be like the user Reflected...nah,i can be patient.

I recently found that at the very least, when razor editing, if you initiate a move with a drag, and then, while holding decide it should be a copy and you press the modifier, at least the cursor changes. Expected bahaviour would be that on holding a copy modifier, the copy action would be performed, not the move. If the cursor can change, then the action should also.

I've made a separate bug report, as I think this would count as a bug, and the rest of this thread as a feature?

We'll see.

Here's the BR
