Default Looking for a bass player.

Hoping I might find someone who wants to contribute the bass track to this:

https://cmnfs.com/wp-content/uploads...Fly-Away03.mp3

Just the rhythm guitars on this for now, but I can render it up in any way that works for you. I've got someone working on the drum track, hopefully I'll have that in a week or so. So I can render up another track that includes the drums if that helps.

Thanks

I'll have a go at it. Won't really have time to get serious until Sunday though.
I'll hit you back through email

A guide vocal or lead line would help establish the arrangement better? Also did you use a click track for timing on the guitar, or is it staying loose?

Cool. Probably want to wait until I get the drum track. I'm hoping to have that this weekend, but we'll see.

But yes, email me and we can go over the details.

Aloha Ivan. Hope you and yours are doing well.

I did record the rhythm guitars with a click track, that's what I sent to the drummer, but I left the click track off on this render.

I don't have lyrics for this, can't write to save my life. I would love to find someone who can write the lyrics for this, but if it ends up being an instrumental, that's cool too. As far as a lead line, I posted this a little while back while I was noodling around.

Thanks

Thanks Abe.

Sorry about the timing problem. If it's too much of a hassle, I can re-record the rhythm tracks, concentrating on my timing better. Your call.

Take your time. Cats are evil enough even when they're well rested.

The drum track is awesome, as usual. Great job, thanks.

Funny, I had to nudge the guitar tracks back a bit for them to fit the drums. But that's no problem since I was going to re-record them anyway.

For me it's easier to re-record than trying to "fix in the mix". Plus it gives me more time to play guitar.

Your the best man. I'm going to clean up the rhythm tracks, get the tracks to the people who have expressed and interest in doing the bass, and who knows. I may get invited to appear on American Bandstand. !!

I downloaded it about 1/2 an hour ago. I'll check what's there and see if it's any different. The one I got sounds great.

Yeah, they're the same.

Thanks

Toledo: Are you hoping for a solid basic bass line or some twiddly widdling in there too?

Good question.

I'd like to hear the drums/guitar/melody bit, too. I listened to the mix you posted in your other thread and had some fun, melodic ideas.

I'm not sure what you mean by twiddly widdling. I'm hoping it means throwing in some tasty bass licks and runs (spoken as a guitar player).

I'm working on leaving space in the rhythm track for things like that. By leaving space I mean letting chords ring with a bit of hesitation between changes, that kind of stuff.

Being new to all of this, I'm open to any suggestions you might have to make things sound more interesting.

I'm hoping to have something by the end of the day today.

Thanks

Thanks.

As I replied to Ivan, I'm hoping to have that later today.

Please feel free to make any suggestions that you feel will help.

Please note what I post will be a bit weak on the mix part. Not my strong suit, but I'm planning on having Pipeline Audio do the final mix and master on this.

Thanks again.

Here's the track with Abraham Liftin's drums.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vwd1jg4vt4...way01.wav?dl=0

I'm still playing around with ideas for the short beginning section.

If you're interested in adding the bass track to this, PM me with your email and I will send you a link to download the file.

Shout out to Abraham Liftin on the drums, I think he did his usual outstanding job.

If you ever need a drummer on a project, hit him up, he's great to work with.

Yes, a couple of people are working on the bass track. They have other projects they're working on but I'm in no hurry on this.

I've already begun noodling around with the next one.

Thanks Cameron, love the bass. I left the lead guitar part out on this so the bass could be heard better.

Holy crap, this is starting to sound like a song.

Aha... I won`t need to get too widdly then, having listened to bass Mk1. Nice job, Mr. Dye.
A thought: Any chance we could get a drum part where the emphasis is on on 3 rather than 2&3?

I`ve got a slightly different flavour in mind that I think you might like.

Also, if you use both rhythm guitar parts, there are some interesting interactions too.

Sorry - sloppy posting. You are using 1 -3and on kick with the emphasis on 3 rather than 1 -and3 with the emphasis on 3, which I was suggesting we try as well.
Hope that makes more sense.
I am still working on mate Paul`s tracks today but should get to this one Saturday or Sunday latest.
Saturday is my 39th wedding anniversary AND I get my first covid vaccination at lunch time, so who knows?

So, I think the guitar would have to be changed also. it would definitely change the whole feel of the track. Not sure if it's worth re-tracking, but I get what you're saying.
Heh - think I am still wide of the mark, certainly not more binary than yours & Toleolu`s groove. Just a thought, basically. If I get time I might bang out a rough drum track and see how it works out with the existing guitars, but strictly for fun.

I redid the rhythm tracks to fit better with Cameron's bass track.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/85gwxkaakq...way02.wav?dl=0

I used a strat and a PRS, and then panned them a little. Pretty much the extent of my audio engineering talents. There's a couple of mistakes in there, but I usually have to record things a number of times before I get them right.

That's why I plan on having Pipeline do the final mix and master. You can write what I know about audio engineering on the back of a match book.

No problems - talking about arrangements is a bit like translating everything into Martian, ain`t it?

Cleared the decks & starting work on the track this afternoon...

French is dead easy. I just went through selling a house in France.... got 38 pages of densely typed French legalese I had to translate & managed it in under 24 hours! Great incentive when you have money riding on it.
