Default what is the best cpu/motherboard combo for reaper?

i want to build a pc powerful enough to handle large (~100 tracks) reaper projects, and possibly to be used for live sound mixing as well. what cpu/motherboard combo is the most kickass currently for use with reaper?

Subscribing. I'm about to build a new machine in the spring, and I have no idea about the new processors rolling out atm.

Ryzen 5950x or Intel 12900k.

The intel is a bit more power hungry and warmer under full loads. The Ryzen is a bit more picky about memory.

Many options on Mobos but Asus or Gigabyte and avoid the cheapest models and you ought to be fine....There is a huge thread on Gearspace full of recommendations for entire builds that is well worth checking out (start at the end!)...getting the other components incorrect (cooling, power, memory, even case) can limit how well your cpu can perform.

https://gearspace.com/board/music-co...ot-thread.html

For a slightly more budget build and I think what I will be putting together in a few months look at the i5 12600k.

Another tip for speccing a machine....check a pro DAW builder site like Scan 3xs where it lets you configure your own machine and you can see which components are chosen as their defaults for different levels of build.

My setup:

Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Master-CF
i9-9900K
64GB memory
SSDs all around

Seems to handle everything I can throw at it.
