Here is an incarnation with full-size mixer strips:

The receives were not included this time, but they would appear when there are some.

That's fantastic Brice. That looks better than any current theme. The main mixer should look so good...

Well done.

Other than looking good and intuitive, good use of the available real estate..

Tallisman, how about a right-click on the track name to bring up a dropdown list of other tracks ?

My second +1 for the concept put forward by this thread. A great example of the importance of a well designed GUI.

Cheers,

Malcolm.

this is partly why reaper is so great. a pretty good idea is brought to the forums, and it matures very quickly with help from others. this redesigned io window is a dream. like lawrence (i think?) i'm still not sure we practically need meters for the sends. maybe that would be a nice option.

that design is brilliant. go team!

This is very nice, +1 here. The only niggle I can think of would be the position of the Track Channels box. The more routings you set the more it will be out of reach. I suggest to put it to the left, next to the Master/Parent Send switch.

It would be cool to have a right-click menue in this window, to have the common actions at hand as this window can grow real huge.

Keep up the good work

I'm assuming this will all be themeable so that it will fit our existing theme styles?

I love this thread, the original idea and how you guys have developed it ! Congratulations and +1 !

One small addition:

+ FX rack on every send (for instance to EQ the signal you send to a global reverb or to a group compressor).
With this small FR let's have DAW Superpowers !

Sebas, perhaps "small addition" is not exactly the right word? I´d consider that a huge blow into another dimension... cool idea, but i wouldn´t hold my breath till then.

Brice, perhaps the Master/Parent and Track Channel switches would be best situated in the main track strip (the leftmost)? That´s where they functionally belong and the header would be obsolete.

I favor the version from July the 6th. It affords more space to the automation mode. It gives me a quicker overview.

Brice, I only meant the send section.

That's a cool little panner symbol btw .

Yeah, Baby!

Short of dedicated-function tracks (asking for that around here is like pissing into a hurricane) that's the cleanest & easiest-to see solution ever proposed.

Justin, PLEEEEAAASE implement this!

I would prefer this one. cause if I have managed a send/recieve and tweek it later while I´m working on my project the FADER is the most importent thing in the send-menu.
that should catch my attention at first sight.

+1 for vertical alignement!!!!! would be great if we can get it from JCS.

Don't forget that this stuff, if it gets done, if the developers choose to comment we might know, if if if, that this stuff would be themable.

So everyone can do their own colours schemes and buttons graphics, just like we have been doing.

I do admit I'm more of an larger layout person. I like my most used buttons and indicators to be clearly visible, and hopefully that'll be themeable too at some point.
