Default Post Production: Media Explorer Drag&Drop

Here are 2 ideas for better usage of the Media Explorer in post production:

1) Make "Insert Portion (loop disabled)" selectable as standard drag&drop and/or action

I'd say in most cases in post production you'd want to be able to trim/expand the imported item.

2) Make portions of a sound be able to be dragged&dropped into other applications

As it is now, the whole source file is dragged out of Reaper. It would be great to be able to have a file written with just the selected portion of the sound.

This would make the Media Explorer the perfect substitute for apps like Soundminer, BaseHead etc. - Those apps are very expensive and people in post production might buy Reaper instead.

I can't test currently but have you tried holding Ctrl + Alt (on Windows) while dragging a selection out of Reaper's Media Explorer?

At least when you drop in Reaper's arrange (or Windows desktop) this renders a new distinct copy of the selection, maybe it works when dropping into other apllications too, not sure.

Thank you, yes this works for dropping into Windows Explorer, into other apps I can't check today. It renders mono to stereo though.

Ah yes, didn't notice this in my short test tbh.
Would be nice of course if it could be a bit more 'intelligent' in this case (i.e. keep source channel count).
