Mouse modifier profiles
Like the title says. Mouse modifier profiles, and actions to switch between them. So, if sometimes you do certain certain tasks for a bit, and want a certain feature set on your mouse, you hit a toolbar button and some of your mouse modifiers change, then, switch to another one, when you're doing something else.
Could be cool.

Currently the MouseMaps can be Imported/exported from the Preferences\Mouse modifiers, but yes, there are no actions nor slots to save and recall different maps directly.
As a workaround, especially in the MIDI editor, I have saved several different mouse modifier combinations as action macros and can swap between those by toolbar buttons. Actually, for me this isn't a workaround but a valid and easy way to change them.

Alas you can do this only for plain mouse click and drag (without modifier key) and only to the behaviors in the Mouse Modifier lists (not possible to assign clicks/doubleclicks to actions from the action list).
ReaScript has the power to get (IOW save) all combinations of modifier key+click/drag and set them to any behavior in the lists and any action. I always wanted to write some scripts for that, but it's a pretty big task (not very complicated, but tedious), so I haven't got around to it (yet). To be honest, I was thinking that we would get switchable mouse modifier profiles as requested by Sound Asleep before I'd be ready with these scripts...

That's true. It's a working solution for me because I only need it for the default actions without modifiers. I hear you about the reascript work and I'm certainly not against this FR, quite the opposite.

I've implemented a reascript function capable to change mouse modifiers profile as reaper action.
First pre-alpha (and very sloooooooooow) implementation here:
http://sourceforge.net/p/ridp/code/c.../msk_common.py
Take look at applyMouseModifiersMapProfile() function and into an examples folder.
