Reaper and Zoom H6 Multitrack (ASIO)
anyone running this combo with success?
i get loud and random buzz (not continuous), gaps and skipping audio on playback.
if i close Reaper the buzz stops.
this is with the H6 1.0.0.14 Multitrack driver, on win XP 32, SP3.

When I was out of town on Vacation I took my H4N with me and since I only had my laptop with me I thought I'd try the Zoom as the sound card. It was buggy as hell at that time. I don't know if that persists or not, just wanted to post that experience.

Yes, this combo with success but on Win8/64. Recorded some days ago 4 Channels (M/S internal capsules plus 2 Mics external wiht phantom power in USB bus powered mode) for about 1.5 hours. And playing back through speakers via H6 line out.
I installed the firmware update for H6 introducing level reduction for line out, this could have an effect here, but I don't know.
Perhaps you could check the buffer settings in ASIO setup. On my old XP machine (already died due to graphics defect) I had to deactivate power management for any recording.

I might be tempted to try again, thanks for the info.
Oh, you said H6.

thanks for the replies,
intrestingly this H6 seems to work on my DAW pc, but not on my net laptop. (both win xp32, sp3)
its sad, because the DAW needs no new soundcard, but the laptop does..
im gonna try to reinstall the net pc system, etc.
btw this H6 has the latest driver installed.

That was sort of my situation. I have a complete ready to go working DAW at home. My interest in the H4N (for DAWing) was purely being away from home and a simple personal multi-tracking environment with nothing but the device and my laptop.

I am curious about the H6. I have an H2 (the original Handy Recorder) and the Asio driver (or using Asio4all) is buggy as hell. Constant audio dropouts... skipped audio. Say if I record 30 seconds of a song... randomly, it will drop out like a second or two of the performance, when using as an audio interface, of course. It records just fine/perfectly when using as standalone.
Can anyone else chime in here?
I will be using Windows 7, 64-bit, with 32-bit Reaper.
Thanks!

I've used the H6 multi-track driver with Win7 64/REAPER 64 with good success, but I only do simple stereo recordings so far, so it's no stress test.

Used H6 with 2 to six channel when recording. All good. But no heavy testing as interface for Reaper.

The H6 works for me in Reaper 4.62 x64 on Windows 8.1 with no issues in "multi track" mode using ASIO. I couldn't get it to work in Stereo Mode, but that is no problem as long as multi track mode works. I have a z77 chipset motherboard and its connected to a USB 3.0 port.
Sounds great too.

I always had problems with my zoom r24 and reaper. Pops, latency, glitches. Im on a xp laptop.
Then I thought what the heck and tried the asio4all drivers, and it is much better.
Youd think the zoom drivers would be better, but I guess not always.
Hope you get it sorted.

Has anyone tested the H6 for low ASIO latencies? There are some mentions in Google that even when you set 2ms or 1ms in the Zoom ASIO driver, the actual round-trip delay is more like 17ms. But I see nothing confirmed. Anyone try?
I'd want to use it with guitar sims when it's not a field recorder, so true low latency is essential. Apparently the Roland R26 can do low-latency (again not really confirmed but I have their DuoCapture EX USB interface and that is perfect, and I suspect the R26 is based on the same core technology).

Update, I bought the H6, and it is actually capable of low latency. Problem is the driver is buggy; it reports a large latency to Reaper, but worse, it often actually has a large latency for no apparent reason. You see this if you close & reopen the driver, that usually changes unexpectedly to a large latency.
Saying that, if you set the audio app (eg. Reaper) to keep the ASIO driver open, and don't do anything disruptive (like trying to start another ASIO app), it usually starts low and stays low throughout the session. I can't remember the numbers (I only tested once briefly), but it was good enough for guitar sim work.
So not super-reliable, but with some care just fine.

Hey I know this is an old thread but I had the exact same problem and this is the only mention of it I've found online yet. I was able to remove the sound by turning the asio buffer size all of the way down, 64 on my machine, and moving the device over a foot away from my laptop and any other electronic equipment. Also found that my wireless mouse receiver could cause the buzzing sound. Hope this helps some other frustrated person
