Default Inspector track as well as mixer window

It would be nice to have an inspector track like Logic or Cubase to the left of the TCP, but still be able to have the Mixer window open. There are a few scripts that offer workarounds, but not really what I'm after. This seems like a really common feature. I was surprised when I found that Reaper can't do this.

It's been one of the most-often-requested features since I started using Reaper. There are a couple of good ReaScripts that implement one, if that helps.

It would be cool if I could get a track channel that matched the current theme. So far, the only ones I've found implement a different sort of interface all together.

+1. I think this would also fall into the multiple mixers feature that has been requested quite a few times now. There really is not a good reason not to have multiple mixer windows available. If I use the mixer as a track inspector replacement docked to the left then I can't have another mixer view at all which is extremely limiting. Yes, one can use screensets, but there really is a need to visually see a track inspector and a mixer window at the same time (or multiple mixer windows with different sets of tracks).

And yes, there are a couple good track inspector scripts, but again they are so different in terms of gui from the theme I'm using it's very, very jarring and makes working with them difficult. Having a dedicated track inspector and multiple mixer windows would go a long way towards solving this. And theme writers would then be able to mod Reaper's track inspector accordingly rather than the poor script writer trying to accommodate everyone's theme requests.

Track inspector is a really useful tool ... there are some scripts and ways to achieve something similar but they are not a perfect solution. I wish the DEVS considered it as an option.

It would be great if UI elements like the Mixer and the Media Explorer could be instantiated. Meaning, you could have as many instances of them as you'd want.

However, tying that into using shortcut keys to toggle them would probably be a nightmare.

+1 for multiple mixer and +1 for a native track inspector.

It's quite limiting to have to switch screensets just to see your outputs, sends, fx etc etc. I Really need to be able to see the track volume and the volume at which that track is affecting it's buss. At this time there is no really good way to do this natively.

I really hope this gets bumped up on the priority list soon.

For the sake of a small bit of screen real estate, this would be a really nice feature. I already like being able to have a fader on the channels with the customisation, but something with more detail like an inspector would be cool.

Difficult to do without outright copying Cubase, though.

What do these inspectors show? Extra meters (LUFS, stereo correlation, ...), waveform, goniometer... ?

I like them for several reasons, for example it is a way of avoding using the mixer and having most of your screen full of tracks because in "one track" you can have all your tracks. Useful for huge orchestral track templates ...

Cubase is not the only DAW that has something similar ...

+1 For Track inspector window

I'd like the implementation of HeDa a lot but it would be great to have it as native feature for better support in actions and other areas.
E.g. we could use tags for tracks to filter in track-manager, or use it for auto track-colouring etc.
Track visibility / colour by only track name pattern is a bit cumbersome...

In addition I'd like to have the possibility to add textual comments for a track to be able to take editing notes on it.

Thanks !

I've wondered why this hasn't already been done as it's a bit of drag that most other DAWs can do this without a problem.

That being said, I haven't seen any other DAW that has more customization or updates as often as Reaper.

In case the dev doesn't already know the benefit of having a mixer and an inspector track here's how I would use it most often:

I often need to be able to see levels on a track as well as the busses that the tracks are going through. For example, I have my mixer set to only show the busses and reverb sends so I can see an overall volume of an instrument hitting the buss but I can't easily see the track that I'm recording on while also seeing those buss tracks up.

If we were given 2 mixer views or one inspector and a mixer that would solve the problem.

HeDa Track Inspector VIP is doing this very well (better than competitors floating track inspectors)

But I agree that it would be better to have a native implementation for various reason
- theme consistency with main theme
- no separate fee to be paid (for the VIP version)
- immediate availability of new features

+1 for multiple mixer and +1 for a native track inspector. Because the more the merrier obviously. HeDa looks amazing if only a little overkill for me, but I guess it's the perfect candidate for becoming native (and Walterizable, please).

But I'd request a simple thing (simple to ask for, I know) about the way dockers work since I have my track inspector needs almost perfectly worked around with the easy layout screenset than so many tutorials explain;

very often I need to have more than one track on the "mixer as inspector track" on the left (see attached file) and I'd rather do it resizing the docker better than changing screensets but I'd love it so much if only resizing would snap to whole channels so I don't have to waste time adjusting.

I understand this might be harder to do than the actual requests this topic is about. I am no coder but I can imagine how Reaper couldn't easily tell what is an object of interest in a resizable window such as a vertical channel in a mixer window. Perhaps this could better do as a different request?

+1 Native inspector !
i use a combination of keystrokes to get the relevant info in a regular basis:
+ Show Fx chains
+ Routing
+ Selected track channel strip docked at the left

this one of the reasons of this request:
" button in routing/control panels for showing fx chain / disable"
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=192828

Thanks

+1 for native solution.

This cannot at the moment be completely scripted, because they cannot for example offer compatibility with Reaper's context menus, like "FX extended mixer context".

Reaper's own mixer docked to a side as an inspector is quite inconvenient, because it doesn't show tracks that have been collapsed in the mixer, even if you select it in TCP/arrange.

I was literally shoked to know that there is no track inspector in Reaper.
I’ve been told that Reaper is most customizable DAW...

I am Studio One user (ex Samplitude and Cubase user), and I want to switch to Reaper.
But there is one thing that keeps me from it. No damn track inspector!

So I shall stick to SO until Reaper devs implement trackinspector.

Ah, an undead thread.

That feature will probably never be implemented just to annoy us

+1 for inspector and +1 for multiple mixers too!

Could have an MCP next to the arrange window TCPs that follow the selected TCP and then have a seperate mixer window too!

In other DAWs the track inspector is used for showing
track-parameter which are not displayed in the track
itself.

------------> The difference is:

In REAPER, if you want to see all track-parameter, you
have to increase the track height.

In other DAWs, if you want to see all track-parameter,
you can (1) increase the track height - or (2) you
can just select the track without changing its height,
and in the synchronized inspector-window all the track-
parameter are displayed.
