Default Inline editor notation

Unless I'm not finding the option it seems that the inline editor will only display the piano roll. I would like to request that it should be able to display notation too.

Wow, that would be cool. Even if you would only be able to see the staves it would enable you to read the whole score.

The only caveat are MIDI key switches that usually garble the layout. A simple approach is filtering MIDI channels (assuming that the instrument will listen to all channels).

You can already hide keyswitches in the notation editor so I don't think would be an issue.

Just right click on the note and select hide. All other instances of that note on the same staff will be hidden too.

this would be very helpful - to be able to read the notation whilst editing the midi would be fantastic for a lot of people

Thank you.

I knew about "hide notes", but I tought it would hide individual notes (MIDI note events) as I'm used from scoring applications.

This would be very useful when working with orchestral libraries.
Arrangement window could be used for staff score view, and MIDI editor for hidden keyswitches and fine adjustments.

Especially convenient in multimonitor setups, when arrange window and MIDI editor are visible at the same time on different monitors.

In other words, a very welcome feature!

This would be really nice, but I'm not sure that it would be possible.

In the current paradigm, everything in the arrange view is precisely aligned in time.

Would it be possible to align notation measures and notes that contain large key signatures, lots of accidentals, or lots of short notes?

The simplest solution would be to show notes on inline staff only in absolute, MIDI-like spacing and not show clefs, key signatures etc. at all on the staff itself.

If track height is large enough, clefs and signatures could be shown above the staff at the start of each measure, as smaller or larger symbols depending on track height. Or as transparent colored overlays on the staff, at the start of each bar, either permanently or on mouseover etc.

Alignment of short notes would not be a problem if they are shown exactly according to their MIDI timing. Accidentals etc. could create visual clutter at low horizontal zoom settings, but not when zoomed in wider.

The Inline Midi Editor has one of the worst user experience I ever saw in a DAW. I wouldn't invest anymore time in this program part.
