Default Problems with Plugin Delay Compensation

Hi Folks,

I never had problems with plugin delay compensation.

But varuous pich or frequency shifters (I want to modulate those) create a latency delay that is not compensated by Reaper.

Is there something I´m missing in the settings? What´s the best workaround?

Thanks guys :-)

What plugins are you using ? maybe we can try to replicate that.
What is your audio interface and version of reaper and OS?

>>What plugins are you using ?

It seems to happen with all pitch related plugins. In this case it was the Frequency or Pitch Shifter by kiloHearts (same thing with Hofa System Pitch plugin)

>>What is your audio interface ?

Universal Audio Apollo Twin

>>and version of reaper and OS?

Reaper 5.965 and Windows 10

Thanks

just installed the demo for pitch shifter 64 bit version and reaper reports back the delay OK 1024 samples. are you using 32 or 64 bits ?
I tested it under windows 10 as well

Hi Pepe,

thank you so much for your efforts. Two thumbs up!!

Well, Reaper reporting the latency right is one thing - but playing back the track in time is another.

any track with a pitch related plugin on it does not play back in time. And it puzzles me because with everything else Reaper works perfectly fine regarding latency compensation?

I tested the playback with a bass loop i made it works great, with that pitch shift plugin from kilohertz. Does it happen with reapitch ? try that

Default Same with Bias FX?

Hi,

I was going to post a similar question - maybe something has changed recently?

I've been using Reaper x64 on Windows, Mac Mini (2018, 12 core, SSD, 16GB ram) with Positive Grid Bias FX (for guitar amp modelling).

A few days ago I noticed that I'm getting an audible delay (estimate 50ms or slightly more, max 100ms) between direct monitoring (via Steinberg UR12 audio interface) and the plugin output. So between plucking the guitar string and getting processed sound there is an off-putting amount of delay.

This doesn't happen when using the plugin standalone and it doesn't happen in other tools (MAGIX Samplitude Music Studio has no noticeable latency at all). I've tried different audio systems (ASIO, WASAPI) and block sizes/sample rates. Tried a latency measurement using ReaInsert and got a reading of -9 samples, which is quite a small amount I believe. Getting a reported latency of 11ms AISO at 48khz, 256 samples, so basically I think it's the VST hosting process that's slow, not the audio devices or the CPU (CPU is at 4% on avg).

Have tried with an alternative plugin (Ignite Amps Emissary and ReFIR) and get a similar problem.

Normal Playback is fine, audio is in sync with drums/metronome etc, it just the live monitored fx that lags.

Is there any way to diagnose what is to blame for plugin output latency or a why to compensate or fix? I played with toggling audio driver reported latency and offsets etc but I think that's more to do with round trip of the audio interface and didn't seem to make a difference.
