Justin, it works now perfectly. It opens instantly! Thnx a lot! Even with categories and developers it opens immediately.

May I just ask why I had such a noticable delay, and other users didn't? You checked my ini files? Is there something wrong with my setup?

Most users don't have ~2000 plugins on their systems. And if you had only 1000 plugins, it would be 1/4 the length of time, and if you had 500 plugins, it would be 1/16th the length of time, etc (roughly, anyway).

Thanks Justin for FX sorting options) Can you add FX date sorting for people who install plagins in 1 folder? Like Newest\Oldest or:
Today
Yesterday
Last week
Last Month
Last 3 month
Year
or maybe calendar for date numbers (If I'm too impudent, tell me about it xD).
This function is useful when I recently installed the plugin, did not go into the program for several days, and then decided to see what I installed and ... I forgot what I installed.
Some guys from the forum asked me to write you about this feature.
And again thanks so much.

Could someone show me the screenshot of how this feature should look like?

I already have my plugins manually sorted by developers name. Maybe, that's the reason, why I can't notice any changes in the FX list?

You need to first enable the additional smart folders. Right-click the background of the FX browser and you will see new options in "Show in left pane list".

Now I have a question, where should vst be for sorting, in reaper \ plugins \ fx or in any folder on the computer?

SOLVED
In any folder. Just need clear cashe\rescan.

I did mean right-clicking the background of the FX browser WINDOW, not the FX LIST.

It didn't work either. In Windows, at least. In fact, clicking at top bar of the windows also shows the menu.

I have a problem/bug with folders. Is developer isn't consistent in naming his company, than something like this can be seen in FX window:

When I tried to rename third folder from Guido, Reaper crashed. The name was something like "Guido Scognamiglio - www.somethingelse.it".
Then (I'm not the brightest), I've tried to rename the folder with SoundFonts.it in it's name. Both times I've tried naming them simply "Guido Scognamiglio", the same name as one that was already present in the list. Both times Reaper crashed.
Now, one of the three folders can't be seen in the list and I'll probably rename the second one to something like "Guido Scognamiglio2", but it looks ugly, as for me.

P.S. I would also like to have my custom folders in FX list before Categories/Devvelopers/FX Chain folders.
P.P.S. And a checkbox to hide "VST/VSTi/VST3/JS" prefixes from the plugin names, since the developers are working with FX browser now.

I didn't mean the top bar of the window. I literally meant the empty parts AROUND the panes. But nevermind

Regarding developer naming inconsistency, in this case you should probably just move the plugins to a new developer folder you create, and delete the original one.

Could you possibly do a screen capture of exactly what you do before REAPER crashes?

... never mind, I got it, it happens when you try to rename a folder to the existing name of another folder. Fixing.

Yeah, in that case it should just merge the two folders, no?

In developers type all sorting pretty good.

Depends on how the developers categorized their own plugins (or didn't). At any rate you can move the plugins around to sort them better.

Can I change digital signature of plugin for sorting?

It's MUCH better to just fix it within the FX browser, it's easy to add things to other categories and remove from existing ones.

So far the solo stuff seems to work exactly like it should.

There is no option in context menu for adding plugins to another developer folder. Only to user created folders.
So, today I learned, that one can move plugins between folders by simply dragging them with mouse. Seems useful.

UPD. It is also not possible to remove developer folders that were generated by Reaper. The very moment one clicks "Remove developer" from the context menu of the folder, Fx list scrolls to the top.
After that, one can scroll the list back and find out that folder is back. Even if all plugins were moved from the old folder, they'll be listed in the, I suppose, newly created folder with the same name. In my case, the automatically generated folder, which i previously renamed.

# FX: support renaming factory-supplied VST3 categories/developers (changes will be reverted on plugin cache clear/re-scan)

Much better, thank you !

Mousewheel scroll thru the Developers list when using TCP quick add FX would be very helpful if possible
