Default time to upgrade from Maverick...but...

Hi guys,
I think it's time to upgrade from OSX10.9.5, but I don't know what's the best version to install.
I lost in these years all the improvement they made because I was good with maverick, everything works cool and i didn't want to change anything.
But now, lot's of app are going to be out of updates (the last one is google drive for example).

So, I'm here to ask you guys your advice.
I use my macbookpro mid 2012 i7 for all my works (it's my job, not just an hobby) so I need to switch to something really stable both as system and for music production (reaper, VST and audio interfaces compatibility at 100%).

What's your opinion and advice?
thanks in advance!

my advice is: go 10.12

double-check with manufacturers of your audio interface if you need external drivers for it

Many people don‘t seem to have any problems with Sierra (10.12). I‘m still on El Capitan (10.11.6), but didn‘t install the Intel Spectre/Meldown patch, which can cause performance issues.

As far as I remember, this Intel patch was directly integrated first in 10.13.2, so that might explain, why many people complained about High Sierra. On Yosemite, El Capitan and Sierra it was a separate patch.

It is a difficult decision ... if your Macbook is also used for daily work, especially web surfing, it‘s a bit risky to not install the patch.

PS: If you want to install Sierra, inform yourself about the introduced iCloud feature, that syncs seldom used files automatically into the cloud ... that should be switched off.

PPS: I was forced to stay on 10.11, because it was the last version where my old Tascam interface was supported. Now that I have a new interface, I will likely switch to Sierra or maybe wait a bit longer and go directly to Mojave ... I‘ll try the later with an external HDD. But from experience, a new OSX/macOS version usually needs three patches, until most bugs got sorted out. So it‘s a bit too early for Mojave

thank you guys, I think I will switch to Sierra that seems to be the most stable release.
Now I need to find a half day free to make all the stuff (I want to make a clean install not an upgrade) but this is my problem

Just an FYI.

I'm running 10.13.6 on:

late 2012 mini
2.3GHz quad i7
16Gb

Apollo
EuCon

with no problems

I just updated from Yosemite (10.10) to Mojave (10.14) with no issues at all. I did it the easy way, didn't uninstall and reinstall anythign else, clicked the download and install button and two hours later, hey presto, Robert's a male sibling of one of your parents. A bonus is that Mojave now lets me select audio output devices directly from the speaker icon, which is a bonus. And from the Audio Midi setup you can create both aggregate devices and multi-output devices.
