Default Project Directory Cleanup - weird behaviour (SOLVED)

Longstanding issue for me;

- Empty Reaper Project.
- In Preferences, the setting "Copy imported media to project media directory" is ticked.

Now:
- In Media Explorer, select a portion of an audiofile and drag that into Arrange.
This wil now be an Audio Item in Arrange, let's call it X.
- Glue X.
- Run the Action "Project Directory Cleanup"
Outcome: "No unused files found"

But that is not correct:
Cause after dragging a portion of the audiofile from Media Explorer to Arrange,
the whole audiofile is imported in Project Media Directory.
And cause i did Glue X, this whole audiofile should be noticed as being unused, when running the Action "Project Directory Cleanup".

This seems like a bug to me but maybe my logical thinking regarding this is wrong.

OSX 10.14.2
Always latest Reaper (pre) release.

Did you save the project before running the cleanup?
