it would be great if you could fix the bug that i have mentioned several times now. i have also tested it on a windows machine with the same results. enabling the option in project bay to automatically retain media files only works when the project bay is open. any media deleted from the playlist when the bay is not open is NOT retained.

Default Language Packs

Now that the option to select language has been added to Prefs, General (with 4.20), could someone confirm please how these language packs are to be acquired by users?

At present I believe that these are tucked away somewhere in Landoleet: I imagine that either they will be included with the installer or there will be a more easy to find URL, possibly linked to the Prefs General dialog?

I'm asking so that I can document it in the User Guide update.

Thanks!

Hmm, perhaps we should include a few languages in the default installer -- who has some ready?

We'll look at adding a hyperlink in the prefs to get more languages, that might be a good step regardless...

The fullscreen stuff still seems to have some problems. Earlier today, while I was not even running REAPER, I noticed the auto-hiding was not working as usual (I always have it enabled). Switching it on/off in OS X did not work. I had to launch REAPER and toggle full screen mode (which I have not even used for at least a couple of days) on and off to get it working again.

Also, the REAPER installer (Finder) window just went hiding behind Safari in fullscreen mode on Lion. I had to kick Safari out of fullscreen mode just to be able to see the installer again.

I think that's the way to go! We could then simply give the link to the page also in the User Guide (even if there are none yet ready!) with a comment that more language packs will appear over time (or some such!)

I have reported this 3 times now, not once has it received an official reply.

Drag'n'drop effect doesn't copy pin routing correctly.

To reproduce (in MCP):
Insert an effect,
Change I/O pin configuration from 2 pins to 4 pins,
Change routing from 1+2 to 3+4,
Drag'n'drop effect to a new track,
Open duplicated effect and you will see:

1) Only 2 pins are shown (none of the checkboxes are filled)
2) When you press the [+] button to reveal pins 3+4, they are correctly filled.

This is also the perfect time to mention this:

Please change plugin drag'n'drop behaviour to observe the position where the plugin is dropped.
Currently, when you drag'n'drop a plugin, it's always placed at the bottom of the chain, not in order of where you dropped it. This is REALLY annoying if you are duplicating something like Slate VCC across 90+ tracks.

All the best,

+1000

Not only that, but by automatically going to the bottom of the chain, sometimes really "loud and dangerous” things happen, such as when dropping a VST noise generator that defaults to full volume. This can result in damage to loudspeakers/headphones/eardrums. OTOH, if the drop-in order was respected, we could drop the plug-in immediately to a better place in the chain. (i.e. put the noise generator just before a compressor - this would prevent any overload)

Localization: Undo history window still needs UTF8 fix with rc1 ...

Langpack FR is almost ready but still needs some improvements. It's a bit early to include it in the default installer.

Polish is ready (too long strings were not shortened yet however, because of promised resizing).

https://stash.reaper.fm/v/11714/polish.txt

I did not receive any feedback from users, but maybe they do not know how to install the langpack... or they are so happy with localization

You're talking about drag'n'drop between MCPs and FX Chain windows now, correct ?

That I can relate to, at least in the MCP.

@Cockos, here's a small idea for the really-long-fx-chain users in particular.

Drag'n'drop in to left half of the MCP -> positional drag'n'drop with dynamically up/down-out-of-the-way-getting-inserts.

Drag'n'drop in to the right half(or 33%) of the MCP insert area or perhaps anywhere but the insert area of the target MCP, -> instant scroll to the bottom of insert display if necessary, flashing or semi-transparent insert entry at the end of the chain.

That way it the ambiguity disappears on where the plugin will end up in the chain. This would be a v4.21+ implementation though. It's a serious little FR after all. At some point you guys might want to rethink about a slot system, mainly just for the control surface users, OSC in particular. In my experience it's highly beneficial to have the same sends or fx line up across tracks. The less control resources the user has, the more important that becomes, and that isn't possible without a slot system.

Oh definitely - FX window and sends simply need to be SLOT BASED!

Just a reminder: Please let's try and keep the pre-release forum as free as possible from requests and bug reports unrelated to the current pre-release.
I know how tempting it is to plug them here and am guilty myself . But still. They are off topic here.

I agree completely.

I hope I can take advantage of the OSC innovations at some point. I certainly hope to see plenty of good examples for apps like TouchOSC in the releases to come that we can all build on.

I've posted a discussion thread in the FR forum on the matter of slots. Pros and cons.

Nope, from one track to another in the MCP.

Also, drag'n'drop to a blank insert slot should COPY the plugin. Currently we have to copy to an adjacent track, then copy to the original track, then delete the instance in the adjacent track.
Samplitude has this stuff nailed.

Then how we'd change our plug-ins order in a track? Drag'n'drop functionality is crucial there.

Perhaps it's all crucial, and what is needed is an upgrade to the "slot" system.

There was some old FR (iirc), and this new one from Airon comes to mind.

Ctrl + Drag to a slot on the same track to copy the plugin

I know how tempting it is to plug them here and am guilty myself . But still. They are off topic here.
I firmly agree. This has also taken up valuable space and inhibited feedback regarding Roberto Benigni.

This will be fixed for the first prerelease build of the next version. Thanks for persisting with the report.

Default Batch Converter Error

There is no convert button anywhere?!

I tired:
selecting the items I want to convert.
resizing the window.
choosing different formats.

Nothing changes!

I read the manual, then tried a lot of things. But it just seems like a bug. Sorry if its misdirected. I've noticed this bug ever since 4.10 atleast. Please fix it?!
