Colours for Muted elements
Could we have Theme colour controls for Muted elements?
- for muted clips (both selected and unselected)
- for muted notes (both selected and unselected)
- for the backgrounds of muted tracks (both odd and even numbered)

10x! Now, after I put my vote for such a need, I feel better. But my cure is only when this will become reality.

the grid lines need to be themeable as well, for not only muted track areas but non-track areas and the inactive portions of the MIDI editor.
those lines are a big monkey wrench for aesthetics.
I'd like the a different color for where they hit the ruler too...

Yet another of the half done features in Reaper. I wish the devs took visual aspect seriously.

I'm in the "Option: Don't dim muted tracks" camp, and I'd be ok with it. With the red mute buttons on every track I never really saw the need for the dimming.

yea, it would be useful in the navigator, but you have to click the navigator after muting tracks to update it... slightly useless, i agree.

Well, sure. Track lists and navigators and stuff are different. Dim track list text, dim individual muted media clips, etc, etc. I was more just talking about just full the track lane being dimmed in arrange.
It's a kind of curious thing because it implies a level of importance when (imo, mmv) the much more important thing that (maybe) should be strongly contrasted to take notice of is clips when being recorded... which are the same color as other track clips.

i know. just sayin i would only find the feature useful in the navigator.
the un-themeable lines are the real eyesore for me. they increase the contrast of areas that are intended to be less noticeable. so they really have the opposite effect of what they should. and since the navigator doesn't update til you click on it, it's an even less useful feature.
really hoping we'll be able to customize the ENTIRE interface by R5...
the really annoying part with theming are those elements that share colors, which you can only discover through intensive forum research, trial and error or blind luck. that's the shit that gets my goat; illogical inconsistencies and long-running lazy ommissions.
sorry...tangent.

I actually see where that comes from now, Vegas. It mutes the track lane because (I would assume) the mute button there has really poor contrast, as I assume did Reaper before the themes started.
In Vegas you can't so much see with your peripheral vision when tracks are muted like you can in other workstations. So, I guess they just kinda copied Vegas there.

If everything were properly themable you could build any king of visual logic. You could make muted tracks less noticeable or even invisible. I made a similar FR about takes some time ago. Probably we should now vote for something like "comprehensive and flexible theming of all of Reaper".

yes methinks it's still to early to call Reaper "without limits," as i'm banging into them pretty constantly (i've got a welt on my jam bone). close but no cigar. at least the limits are not purely arbitrary ones to keep the poor people down.

I find these dark stripes across the arrangement really disturbing, would be great to have the option to turn track dimming off for muted tracks.

Bumping this. It seems like there would have to be a way.
The two images below are of the same scene: Four empty tracks, the 1st armed and selected, the 3rd muted. The first image is my normal theme, and the 2nd is a random "classic 4x" theme. The muted track color is dark in both pics, but definitely not the same color as the 2nd image shows a lighter, sort of brownish muted track lane, so something changes when selecting a different theme. And if it can change, I would think there would have to be a way to manipulate and control it.

The track by mute, Item... They are all important elements of the repertoire. No matter how the theme changes, they should be visual. In fact, an option should be added so that mute is no longer dim.

Just because you don’t want to hear something at the moment doesn’t mean you have to turn it’s lights out and leave it in the dark so you can’t see it. I often toggle a muted section back on just so I can see something for a sec and then mute it back. It’s long been one of those I-would-sacrifice-20-amazing-feats-of-scripting-which-populates-30-action-rows-that-I-guarantee-I-will-never-need-its-result for each simple, meat and potatoes thing that’s a bummer that can’t be customized away tihings.
+1 bigly.

Agreed. This thing may be optional, but disabled by default (dark mute).

Again, +1! Actually +1000! Seriously, what is holding Cockos back from satisfying this simple but so sought after and everlasting request? If we can customise the colour of everything, why not muted tracks and elements too?
