Default Quantizing Drums: crossfade too late, right on transient

How can I get the crossfades to place themselves in front of (to the left, earlier in time) acoustic drum transients instead of right on top of them? 95% of the crossfades have to be moved by hand.

I'm set to read from left to right, and all else is set exactly per the Kenny Gioia video "Editing Drums - without stretch markers".

Is there a parameter to adjust to create more distance between the crossfade and the actual transient?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
