Default nitpick or user error? MIDI editor scrolling and zooming

The zoom and scroll commands for the MIDI edit window are not the same as in the track window. Bug? Missing Feature?

I couldn't find separate Key commands for MIDI windows, but I'd imagine most folks would want both windows to behave the same???

True, they operate differently. The question becomes, 'how should they operate?'

In my opinion, Microsoft has set the standard. If Reaper is to be intuitive, it needs to use these standards when possible.

Take the mouse wheel... It's called a scroll wheel, and in Windows, it scrolls the current window. duh...

In Reaper's Timeline, by default, it zooms. You have to change Prefs to get it to work as expected.

Wheel should scroll... Ctrl-Wheel should zoom. That's the way it works in Windows, and that's how (i would guess) most folks expect Reaper to work.

And certainly, both the Timeline and the Midi editor should work the same.

They should certainly both follow the prefs, no?

How should they operate?

Well, at least the MIDI window should have key commands for zooming. I can't find any. Am I just missing them? Are they there somewhere? Right now, horizontal zoom is hardwired to the up and down keys. What??

I'd be fine if it inherited from the main window. I'm used to specific keycommands for zooming, and I'd like them to work on the midi window just like they do in the big window. If there is actually a separate key command for each window, then I either have to learn new keys for the midi window, or my zooming and scrolling are going to affect both windows, right? I'd like it if these only affect the topped window, but right now, I can top the MIDI window, and zoom the main window in the background. I think that's confusing, frankly. More flexibility than I need, and with a steep price.
