Madronna's Lab Virta - Setting up audio into VSTi
Demoing Madronna Lab's Virta which has a unique twist of being a VSTi synth that can be controlled by audio using pitch detection. It also can be used as a traditional midi synth as well as a vocoder and perhaps more.
One thing I've run into is the raw audio seeping through underneath the VSTi, which I don't think is the intended use of the plugin. Not sure how to get around this. I've tried a couple different routing setups, including sending audio from a different track with midi controlling the Virta track. Still the raw audio is audible underneath. This might be how Reaper handles audio going into a VSTi and there's no way around it, or perhaps there's a setting somewhere I am missing. I just tested and this works for Virta: http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...88&postcount=2
You just need two tracks and some custom routing. |

Yeah, that works. I tried some combo of 4 tracks on a channel, but I didn't get this particular setup.
This is technically sending audio to the VSTi as a sidechain, right? Another option is to keep the audio track going to the master buss but have the send to the Virta track setup for Pre-fader/post FX and you can mix in and out your raw audio signal without changing the signal to the Virta track. Regardless, pretty cool plug. Thanks! |

I'm don't think it is really side chaining, just a special routing. I bought a Reaper license when I was having issues with another DAW. I only use it every now and then. In no way am I an expert. It is growing on me though...
