Default Min Spec?

Hi guys, just wondering what sort of min spec you'd need to get a good quality output going. Reason I ask is I'm looking at getting a mega cheap laptop to use as a guitar tuner/fx box and need to know what the lowest spec I can get is without crackling / latency issues.
Cheers

Off the top of my head, I'd say a P3-600 or 1.2ghz Via C3 or faster. So anything >= 1ghz AMD or Intel really should be good. And you'll want a good audio device, too.

Well I use a P3-733 and it runs fine for most effects, however if you're going to be stacking lots of effects, something above 1ghz like Justin said would be better.

I'm running a pentium 4 2.0 ghz, and still have loads of latency and noise. How is it possible that you guys are getting good results from less than 1 ghz processor? Am I stupid? Is the key a good separate soundcard? If so, which soundcard do you recommend that is well priced? BTW, I have a laptop as my only computer. So the soundcard needs to be compatible with that.

Try using Kernel Streaming, or ASIO4All w/ the ASIO mode in Jesusonic.

Properly configuring the audio i/o is very important.
