Default Can't find M-audio mixer in Win 7

I just installed Win 7 and I can't find the sound mixer for my 2496 card

In Xp it was always in the task bar, and you could click on ASIO Configuration in REAPER and the panel would pop up.

Tried looking everywhere. Anyone?

There is usually a copy of it in the control panel. Also, Win7 may still have it in the taskbar only hidden. If so there should be a little upward arrow you can click (show hidden icons). If none of that works its always possible a reinstall is in order. Did you upgrade or is this a fresh install?

Ah there it is in the hidden icons

I thought I checked there but possibly before a restart. It's all working properly now, thanks Karbo

If you click "Customize" you can tell it to never hide that icon if that happens to be more convenient for ya!

Ted, when the hidden icons pop up, there is a configure option, you can ask for it to be shown always.

Unfortunately, Win 7 marks another 2 or 3 steps along the road of Windows assuming that it knows what we want to do because we're all too stupid to know what's best ourselves.

when i was using acid pro i never had such problem. after i installed reaper this issue started.i ended up in buying vista home for reaper.i dont know how reaper team is going to help us with this.i think all windows 7 x64 and 32 bit users will face same sound mixer missing problem.

It's not a Reaper problem raaja, just a learning curve that comes with having a new Operating system. It's just been hidden for our convenience by Win 7

Thankfully the guys here can help with most things

Be fair now... as a reminder to ourselves of the wide variety settings Reaper can't fullfill with zero customization or manual reading simply because everyone is different. Windows comes with a manual too.

See post #4, you just need to make the icon 'visible'.
