I caught half a radio program about chanting and heard a few bars of a woman performing a chant she liked. I did a radio 'catch up' and used a portion of it.
It is a Buddhist chant which in essence says 'Wishing You Well'.
This soundcloud version seems a little treble harsh to me.
That one remind me of Duryodhana. I heard this chant in a movie called "The Mahabharata" by Peter Brook.
And the reason I watched that movie is because Peter Gabriel was involved in making the soundtrack. This was within his Real World label, which one of the most awesome label every created.
If you having listened to the soundtrack I think you will get a kick. It heard it back in the 90's and it was instantly burned inside my conscience. This album unlocked my appreciation with Indian music. For LIFE!!!
Many thanks for the comments and sorry for the late reply.
It is not the usual thing I play with but couldn't resist.
My mild facination with indian music surfaces from time to time since meeting Ravi Shankar in the late 1960's - bloke I shared a place with interviwed him for a magazine.
I was unaware of the album so a big thanks for the links - video link seems broken but I got it via your utube link.
