Default Increased Maximum Buffer sizes [SOLVED]

Any chance of getting an increased buffer size? For some reason, my render speed was at 0.2x on a Dual XEON setup with 20 cores (40 threads) and 192GB of RAM. When I increased the buffers to Maximum sizes in the settings page, the render speed went to 0.6x. Just wondering if an even larger buffer would increase it further. Attached is the image of the Performance Meter, render settings, and 0.2x render speed.

Thanks!!

EDIT: I finally figured out the actual issue after upgrading to newer XEON CPUs (since data centers upgraded, two newer 14 core v4 models were $500 for the pair)

Turns out that Windows 10 for Workstations doesn’t have the greatest support for the functions of the XEON line, so had to get third party software to unlock boost and keep the COU cores from parking at 1/2 speed *facepalm*

But hey, now all 28 cores (56 threads) boost to 3.2 GHz when needed, so no more issues! Also loving the Reaper 6.3 functionality of showing clipping and LUFS levels on render, in addition to the ability to do a dry run!

Which soundcard are you using?
For ASIO drivers at least there should be a corresponding standalone application where you can set the buffer size directly so it isn't limited by Reaper.
Example here:

Regarding your pic, since CPU use seems fairly low in that project my guess is the slow render speed results from the "Data compression" setting for FLAC files ("8 - Slowest"), you could try another (lower) setting there, though potentially resulting in (slightly?) larger size of the rendered files.

Another (wild) guess would be that the underlying issue is that when Reaper is doing FLAC compression it's not running on multiple cores (you could check having Task manager open while rendering).

What about exporting to wave? Is there a difference? You could then convert the resulting file to flac.
May be a faster workflow.

...and it would rule out Flac's compression being the culprit.

Default SOLVED (kinda)

OK I traced the culprit down to a plugin I was using called StereoTool. It can be super-intensive on CPU depending on how it's configured - certainly has some settings that might make a mathematical difference but likely not an audible one

Going with WAV did not make much of a difference since even at compression set to 8, FLAC isn't very CPU intensive.

Thanks for your help!!
