I'm trying the DrumReaplacer.
Some questions:
I only see one sample loaded, is that some sort of multisample?
Edit: Ok, I've inspected the Snare_Pipeline_Grip_24_samples.wav and it's many hits
How does this work?
How is the velocity/round robin working?
How do I add my own samples?
Thanks!

And..
A plead to those who makes all these nice plug-ins and add-ons:
Please consolidate your manuals, help-texts, installation-guides and latest download somewhere. It's very hard for a new person to jump into a thread like this and get out all the relevant information.
Suggestions:
- Consolidate all info in first post in thread, or..
- Make a wiki-page for the plug-in/ad-on ( http://wiki.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page), or
a blog-page, web-page whatever.
Thanks a lot!

You can add samples in a wav editor...there needs to be true silence between each sample. look at the pipeline example for a template. I don't know if any documents exist for this plugin, other than the info in this thread. Hope that helps :_)

Hey downloaded this for reaper and I have followed the instructions, but the plugin is not found. I have two reaper folders from a goof up I did loading a theme and needing to re-label ONE of the reaper folders as "old_Reaper". I have loaded the files into BOTH of my reaper folders but to no avail. is there somehting i am missing here?

My Apologies for bumping an old thread but i would really like to use this but cannot seem to access it, i download it then save the file into my Plugin folder on my desktop where i point reaper to search for VSTs, i then open reaper, re-scan that folder for new plugins, but when i try to find it in my add effects, i cannot find it?
Any help Please?

It's a JS plugin and works differently to VSTs etc.
Open Reaper and go to Options->Show Reaper's resource path, then find the Effects folder and place the text file in there.

I've followed the text file of drumreplacer's installation, but drumreplacer don't work.
It does not find the directory of the sample

I had a lot of trouble trying to get it to work on windows so I gave up. It worked sweet on my mac so I replace there and render it down to a wav file and go back to the PC to mix, PITA but it works, awesome plugin, really good at matching transients, no phasing issues, just picks up a bit too much on spill and needs a little editing. (any automatic replacing I have tried requires a good deal of manual TLC)

organization methods
Jonas, well done! this this works like a champ for me on a win7 machine.
quick question for those of you that are using it, it seems like it is a real quick way to drop a sample in, or layer it in, without having to load up and route a synth, etc. but it seems like it would turn into a bear if you don't have some method of organizing the samples in folders or something... which I can't seem to figure out how to do. if i load a folder of samples Reaplacer doesn't seem to see them... any clues out there?
again, thanks Jonas, and all you devs out there.. one-of-a-kind!

It works, but the folder where it looks for samples is hard-coded. I do not think that there is any way around that (see below).

JS is a little crippled when it comes to handling files, and it was even more so I think when Jonas wrote DrumReaplacer. Maybe someone could use the new(?) "slider1:/some_path:default_value:slider description" facility to let DrumReaplacer handle files a little more decently. But in any case, all files to be loaded must be under the REAPER\Data folder, just as it is now. This is a JS anomaly which I guess only Justin can do anything about (see here http://www.cockos.com/reaper/sdk/js/js.php).

why isn't this plugin not included by default?? after finally realizing there was an updated version (after years!) I have some questions. If I understand the dynamics slider correctly the plugin will go through the file and select samples that fall within the amplitude or velocity range. am i correct? so for example if one downloads the KMS Drums library from Pipeline Audio which contains 8 unique samples for 8 velocity levels for each drum you could throw them all into one file and use the Dynamics slider to select the velocity layer and then DrumReaplacer would automatically select randomly between the 8 unique samples from the chosen velocity level.
Is there a limit to the number of samples per file?
Absolutely fantastic plugin. Great work!

Hey
I absolutely love this plugin and I really need it for my projects. It was working ok on my W7 64 machine, but I have migrated to a W8 64 machine. Can't make it work. Did any of you got lucky making it work on W8?
EDIT
Nevermind guys, I got it working. Just copy the Jonas folder to:
C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Effects
And the Data folder to:
C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Data

Hi DrumReaplacer fans.
I am attempting to compile a Manual for DrumReaplacer.
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=134395
I have learned a lot from this thread and I am compiling posts together to eventually create a manual. For now I hope this new thread will be a more concise way of finding the info that is spread across many pages of this thread and others.
Jonas, thank you for this plugin, with a little help on the info side of things I think this will become a very popular plugin.
It's detection is at least as good, if not better than the expensive drum replacement program I used to use.
I have put together separate threads for the installation and for the sample creation. links can be found in my signature.
any input of information from the Reaper community will be much appreciated

Hey, win7 x64 noob here. Copied the Jonas and Drumreaplacer folders into their correct respective folders (Effects and Data), I try to open the Demoproject and it gives me this:
"The following effects were in the project file and are not available. REAPER will keep their configurations, but things may not sound as desired.
Track 1: JS: Jonas/DrumReaplacer 1.0"
I checked out the Jonas DrumReaplacer 1.095 patched for REAPER 4.59+ patch but honestly I have no clue what to do with the text/code at this point. Any suggestions? Thanks so much guys, you're all warriors.

http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=134388
this is the link to my attempt to start an instal manual
JS plugins are just a text document so copy justins patched version it to the appropriate folder
the instructions that come with the early version of the plugin are for XP
Plugin
Copy the file DrumReaplacer_1.xxx to the folder "Jonas" in Effects folder in Reaper (create folder if not already there)
(C\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Reaper\Effects)
Sample bank
Copy the folder called DrumReaplacer (containing two wav-files) to ...\REAPER\Data\ folder.
(C\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Reaper\Data)
Limitations of JS programming means this is the only place it can work
Note
AppData is a hidden folder so either:
turn on "show hidden folders from folder option in control panel
or
do a search on C drive for "roaming"

Hello, my drum reaplacer has stopped working since the update. I don't quite understand the "fix". Please advise for a dummy on how I can get it working again.
Thanks.

the fix is an update that replaces your old version of drumreaplacer so it works with the latest reaper

Drum Reaplacer hell
Just brought up a mix from last year that needed some polish before mastering and I'm having the same problem as many others with drumreaplacter no working on my current version (4.591).
Can anyone lay out this update for a complete dullard.
I'm running OSX 10.8.5 and can't seem to save the patched text file nor do I understand it one bit (it's in Swedish right?). I'm totally lost here and would sooner go back to an older version of Reaper than give up this plugin.
Anyone willing to give me a hand in the 11th hour?! I'm talking baby steps here.
The link for the patched version, Sonic Vampire, is showing up as not existing in your manual.

https://stash.reaper.fm/browse.php?q=...placer&x=0&y=0
that is the link to justins patches
thanks for the heads up on my link not working, sorted it now
ok, see what you mean about download, when you click on the button it opens up the file instead of downloading, (dont worry about the language barrier).
You need to control(right) click on the download button and use save link as, then put the text document in Reaper\Effects\Jonas folder
I no longer have a mac to check where it is but it was easier to find than win 7 when I set it up, I think it is somewhere in the library but its been too long since I did it.
try this location I found from a google search
/Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/
I assume reaper will be in there
would love if someone can confirm this as I am keen to include it in my manual, not had a lot of time to work on it lately

test kit
I have just completed my updated instal and test kit for DrumReaplacer
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0bxqtx86nu...update%201.rar
this is a modified version of the Jonas test kit that is now well out of date (old version of the plugin and XP instal notes only)
this contains:
the latest versions of the plugins (as@march2014)
updated instal notes - XP, Win7, mac
a pipeline snare sample file
a modified test session (originally supplied by Jonas)
let me know if there are any issues with it.

Sample Selection
I do hope someone can help. I have installed DrumReaplacer-1.094 and 5 -patched in Effects/Jonas and the 'samples' folder as data/DrumReaplacer.
When I load Drumreaplacer the Sample source file box says '--- choose file, .ogg or .wav.'. I click the box and the box goes blue but there is no drop down selection displayed - even though there is a file 'Snare-Pipeline_Grip_24-samples-stereo.wav' in that folder.
I am using a Mac Pro 3.1 mavericks with the latest Reaper pre. I am very new to the Mac so I could well be doing something wrong here. Advice most urgently requested.
Workaround seems to be having a single sample of my choice in that folder, but then replacing both kick and snare will be rather time consuming.
I really wish this was fully part of Reaper.

Further
If I have two samples in the DrumReaplacer folder - nothing is displayed. Put a third in there and one of the three is displayed but no option to select the other two. Something must be broken, but looking at the code, a lot of which is Swedish, is a bit beyond me.

It does not work that way here, on W7. Do you use the 1.095 version, patched for REAPER 4.59+ by justin?

OK, then this could be a JS bug on Mac... Have anyone else seen this problem on a Mac?
Here is a small test program, basically the file handling part from Drumreaplacer with printing the file names (requires Reaper 4.59+):
Code:
desc:MF\FileLoadTester
slider1:/DrumReaplacer:none:Sample source file
@init
str = 0;
gfx_clear = $xC0C0C0;
@slider
tmpslider = slider1|0;
tmpslider != prev_slider1 ?
(
load_file = 1;
strcpy_fromslider(str, slider1);
);
prev_slider1 = slider1 ;
@gfx
(load_file == 1) ?
(
gfx_x = 0;
gfx_y = 10;
gfx_drawstr(str);
load_file = 0;
);
Copy that text into an ordinary text-file and put somewhere from where you can load it as a JS effect. Here on W7 I can list all the files in the Data\Drumreaplacer folder and get the file names printed. Does it work on your Mac?

Hi Fabian,
Your drum replacer file tester displays the following on my mac;
Unknown directive '@init\
Sample source file \ Clap 01.wav
I am unable to select any other file (there are two other wavs in the directory).
I am on the latest Mavericks.
Thanks.

This sounds to me like a serious flaw with JS on Maverick... I'm sorry, but on W7 the code works fine, and I have no real clue about JS on Mac (or about anything Mac, really).
Maybe someone else can test the code on Mac? Someone who knows both JS and Mac...

I have tried various things in the line
slider1:/DrumReaplacer:none:Sample source file
to see if something else can make the selector work. No luck.

Thanks Sonic Vamp for putting time into this!
Versions 1.094 and 1.095 both compile OK and load files OK on my mac which is running 10.5.4. I haven't actually replaced any audio, I just loaded the wave files and saw the meter sliders change as expected.
"I am using a Mac Pro 3.1 mavericks with the latest Reaper pre." - RSG, the latest prerelease version? Maybe try using the latest official release version?
Why are there two DrumReaplacer versions, 1.094 and 1.095?
