Default "Be Myself" - Recorded entirely in Reaper

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a bit of what I do with you all. This is one of my latest productions called "Be Myself." I tracked every single thing in Reaper. Total of 40 tracks.

The female vocalist's name is Misty Lane. She sung all the vocals and I played all the instruments.

Recording and mixing this song in Reaper was a total BLAST!!! Reaper has changed my recording life forever.

Hope you enjoy it.

Be Myself

Great stuff, FunkyBeat! Thanks for posting that... oh the joy of *ANYTHING* non-metal/hard rock!?!?

Like the horns... is that a played part (as in through a sampler/VSTi) or is it some sort of loop of real horns?

Thanks saulopv!

The horns and drums were arranged from sounds in FL Studio 7. The horns was a played part from a VSTi. Everything else came from my Motif ES. I appreciate the listen.

That's extra cool in that case. Everything else also sounds very well balanced/polished. Well done, mate!

PS: I don't suppose the horns would be available for sale as a separate product, would they? I've been looking for realistic sounding horns (but without costing hundreds) for a while...

The problem is finding which horns they were. I don't use FL that much. I remember I created the drum loop, put some horns on that and then sent that to 2 tracks in Reaper. I did not save what I did in FL. Sorry. Do they really sound realistic to you? Cuz they don't to me... lol. To me, my Motif horns sound way more realistic.

Great stuff, man -- song, arrangement, mix, etc. The only thing I was missing was the kick. But then again I'm a rock guy (who happens to love funk), so the kick can never really hit hard enough ;-) Keep it comin'.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate it.

And jalan, I hear ya about the kick. Normally, I have really hard thumping kicks, but this song I just went with this loop I made as an experiment. It was a fun!

Thanks to anyone who took the time out to listen.

Hey jalan,

If you don't mind, can you take another listen? I just uploaded a new mix. I agree that it was missing bottom end and needed more kick, so I added a kick from my mpc and turned the bass up too. I also smoothed out the vocals some more too. Anyway, I replaced the old mix with the new one so just download from the same link.

Thanks for you comment man! It really helped!
