Default Reaper not opening at all on MacOS 12 Monterey

Default REAPER not opening at all on MacOS 12 Monterey
To those who may know -

I purchased Reaper 64 a couple of days ago. Tried out some imported wave files etc as a beginning, then closed the app. Didn't use any recording inputs, no audio devices... just dragged in wave files...

A day later, and I can't open it at all. I just get this message

"Reaper - message - Audio device closed"
and the dreaded rainbow wheel turning forever, until I force quit it.

I can't open the app to check or change things... In preferences on Mac, I've got in-built checked on both in and outputs.
Hoping someone can answer this conundrum...

I would suggest wiping out your REAPER resource folder, so it will essentially be a new install. The resource folder is in /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/REAPER. Just delete the whole folder and start REAPER again.

Thanks, Neighkelly, for asking the question and thanks schwa for answering it. I hit the same issue on Ventura after a driver problem with my old Line6 UX2. I already fixed the UX2 issue, and this has fixed the Reaper one. Cheers!

Attachements are not included.

you can do a test : Create a new user account and try to run Reaper there, you can find out if your own user account has the issue or if it is a system wide problem.
