Variety of Sound plugins not loading
I just updated my FocusRite Scarlett 2i2 2nd Gen driver and now none of the Variety of Sound 64 bit plugins are loading. It's JUST the VoS 64 bit plugins.
I dl'ed all of those plugins again and installed them in the VST folder where they had been.
I reinstalled Reaper.
I cleared the cache and rescanned. I took those plugins out of the folder and did it again and then put them back and did it again.
I deleted references to each plugin in the Resource folder reaper-vstplugins64 & reaper-vstplugins files.
I'm using a project that was working fine earlier this morning, but isn't now.
I'm not sure what else I can do. I depend on these plugins.
Anyone else seeing this or seeing a solution somewhere?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear this, just to fill out the blanks: Did you check reapers vst plugins paths list, is the folder still listed there?

Yes. It was set up exactly as it had been when those plugins were working. Then I made a different folder with just those plugins in it and added that to the list.
Reaper sees those files. They become listed in the resource file; reaper-vstplugins64. I tried deleting those files in that listing, as recommended in another post and when I rescan they appear there again. But I can't seem to make use of them. They are not in the FX folder to choose.
I tried to rename one of the files from BaxterEQ (64).dll to Baxter EQ.dll but that didn't help either.
I installed the 32bit versions now and they are working but I would like to have the 64bit without the bridging.
I found an older FocusRite driver and installed that but it didn't help. I reinstalled the C++ runtimes as suggested on the VoS blog recently.
I'm generally pretty good at troubleshooting computer problems but this one is baffling me. It's just the 64bit versions of a single source's plugins... Everyting else is still fine. I've tried anything I could think of. It feels like I'm missing some simple key to regain access.
Thanks for the reply.

What error message do you get when Reaper scans those plugins?
When I recently had this problem with VoS plugins, it told me that it was missing MSVCR120.dll.
Have you checked that you have MSVC++ 2013 Redistributable (x64) - 12.0 installed? Control Panel > Programs and Features
EDIT. OK; I see now that you already tried to reinstall the C++ runtimes, but did you install the correct version?

I don't get any error message. They scan and are listed in the Reaper resource folder's reaper-vstplugins64. But are not showing up in the FX folder to use. As per some other post, I deleted the references to those files from reaper-vstplugins64 and rescanned and they reappear in that listing but still not available to use.
I have a large number of C++ installations. Hopefully that list is showing up in an attachment here..
Thanks for your reply.

What happens if you put them in a new folder outside of the Reaper Resource Path and then direct Reaper to the new folder using the Preferences>VST tab? (You'd, then, need to re-scan for new/updated VSTs .)

Did that too... Same result. I have rescanned for new... wiped the cache and scanned... every combination I can think of. Put the plugin files here and there. Tried renaming 2 of the files.. on and on.. I spent most of a day on this.

Won't hurt to ensure you have them all:

FYI on high dpi screens I have major GUI issues with these new versions (unusable). Old versions still work just fine though.

I see you have both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of the same MSVCR, maybe that confuses things. Also, do you have old 32-bit versions of the VoS plugins? If so, those may take precedence over the 64-bit ones (depending on the order they are scanned and if they report the same GUID).

I'd completely forgotten about this. Here's hoping that this will do the trick.

I tried having only the 64 bit VoS plugins and then cleared the cache and used the 32 bit, which work... Now I'll take those back out and just try the 64 again
And I'll try uninstalling the 86 versions of C++ too...
Thanks for the suggestions.

I uninstalled those '86' C++ files, removed all VoS plugins from Reaper folders, cleared the cache, and rebooted.
Then I copied the 64 bit files into the VST folder and scanned... I saw the names go by as it worked and they reappear on the vst64ini file as shown:
BaxterEQ__64_.dll=00933D6C258DD701
BootEQmkIII__64_.dll=00E8203D0648D801
DensitymkIII__64_.dll=00F4236D288DD701
epicPLATE__64_.dll=008CDBE5C26AD801
FerricTDSmkII__64_.dll=00E35B6D18A3D701
FlavourMTC__64_.dll=00B1E646C662D801
NastyDLAmkII__64_.dll=007A9A66328DD701
NastyVCS__64_.dll=00991C75CC8ED701
TesslaPROmkIII__64_.dll=0027ECE7C5B4D801
TesslaSEmkII__64_.dll=002784C84FE5D701
ThrillseekerLAmkII__64_.dll=003FB40D3C0BD901
ThrillseekerVBLmkII__64_.dll=00D1849B29DDD801
ThrillseekerXTCmkII__64_.dll=008D939799B6D701
But they are still not available in the FX folder to use in Reaper. I feel like I'm just missing something that should be obvious and stupid but can't find a setting in the VST preferences that might do it.

RESOLVED:::
OK... strange.
I installed all the C++ lib with that bat file from FoxAsteria
I rebooted...
I cleared and scanned...still the same.
I removed some of the folders in the VST folder list, put the folder of VoS64 plugins into the VSTPlugin folder in C:/ProgamFiles like before and cleared & rescanned and the 64 bit plugins all seem to be there.
A conflict with some other folder? I'm not going to try to guess right now. I'm probably missing some plugins from the folders I removed but I will figure that out at some point.
Thanks to all who tried to help with this.

Glad to hear you got it resolved. Too bad there's still some head scratching to be done, but that can be done at your leisure.

Thanks... If I don't come across a message saying I'm missing a plugin when I load a project, then I'm not missing anything that's of much use I guess.
This is a reminder of how useful this forum is for solving issues.
