Default Lots of wavs on track - need clear names

I've played around with the clip name options (Appearance > media) but the size of the text is too small and obscure.

I've got dozens of spoken word clips on a track and need to see their names clearly to help arrange the order. They are all splits from one long take, so they all share the same name! I go through and add a new name in the 'notes' field but that isn't much practical use. Ideally the notes field would be the displayed name, and the name could be made big.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Closest I get is the info in this thread which seems to indicate there are no decent options at all:

thanks

There is various tool to batch rename items active take, like the SWS Label Processor. Some scriptd are more advanced but it should already helps.

Then you gan have a list of items with the project bay. This will helo you see the order of you item with a large name column.

Note that I made a script shared in reapack to switch items notes and items names if needed.

Also one thing you can consider is creating empty items with notes from selected items, and set the text to fit. Again I made a script for the first action, heda made the other.

Thanks Xraym, I've looked many times through your scripts - amazing stuff!

But in this situation, nothing in the big Reaper universe suits what I need: to manually rename clips on a track and show the name in reasonably big letters.

Seems a fairly obvious sort of thing to need imo but alas nothing out there to achieve it.

Thanks :P

This is the script I'm taking above

X-Raym_Create text items on first selected track from selected items notes.lua
Script: X-Raym_Create text items on first selected track from selected takes name.lua

Then use : Script: HeDa_Toggle Note Stretch to Fit.eel

track 1 is the text items, and track 2 the related MIDI items.

If this doesn't solve the issue, send a mockup so we can evaluate.

This might help !

Really appreciate the guidance but not a solution for me.

I've tried to work with this but have achieved nothing useful. Apart from the setup process, the actual results are poor. More often than not it ends up wiping out all MIDI data in the item. And if the item is small then the text display is worse than the default item text anyway.

What would be much more useful is two things:
1) Note contents replaces default track display text (At the moment it keeps the default item name and just adds the note icon. Perhaps a hack way this would work is if the notes field automatically became the item name?)
2) Ability to increase the font size of the track text (currently the item name)

Anything beyond that like text wrap etc would be a bonus.

Right click item, select item properties, rename.
To change how all items are named in future, go to Options, Preferences, Audio, Recording, and change the filename format to suit.

Well, yes, all good advice, and thankyou, but it doesn't really get closer to the issue: The need for a simple way to attach immediately readable notes to an item.
