Just wanted to say you made a great theme Mordi, thank you! I've never been a fan of FL Studio's workflow, but I am a fan of the GUI.

In some free hours I had today I implemented the extra wide mixer view in FL Studio in the theme. It now fits perfectly in the track inspector window. I also solved the pan/width issue by adding a width knob. I also changed the transport buttons a bit.
I'm not quite done with the changes yet, but maybe I can share it when I'm done!

Wow, nice work StefBosch! I definitely want to roll your changes into the theme. I’d probably want to remake the graphics in Affinity Designer though. Did you use Affinity to make the missing graphics by any chance?

No, I used Photoshop. Sorry. It should be possible to open the attached .PSD file in Affinity Designer. The only thing is that some vectors will be rasterized. To solve this I attached a font file for the icons. Once installed you can insert the icons with the letters 'qwertyu'.

I love that this theme can make track heights really small, and that on large track count sessions I can have more tracks visible on the screen, a la Logic and Cubase. Is there a way to get other themes to do this? Or is this baked into the theme somewhere?

That's baked into the theme, via the "rtconfig" text file that sits in the image-folder. It's not a quick fix however, since each theme is made with a given track height in mind.

Ah well. Thanks for the quick reply!
Any chance you'll include the ability the have horizontal track names on the mixer? That's one of the only things throwing me off about this theme at the moment.

Mordi, this theme is excellent. Great work.
I never used FL Studio, but regardless the theme is very pleasing to the eye, looks modern and is very user friendly. I also like that you gave it your own twist and not just copied FL Studio 1:1 (because honestly, that layout looks like a hot mess to me). Pleasure to work with, thanks so much for sharing!
Also I f*cking love Affinity Designer, it's really grown into an Illustrator killer.

Yes, but it'll be a while. That would need wider layouts, like the one StefBosch made.

Thanks! Yeah, I tried to keep some Reaper-isms in place, because my eyes are so used to those. However, I'd like to push the theme capabilities as far as I can to make everything look FL-like.
I remade and implemented StefBosch's ideas for the transport, with some changes. I think the BPM and the time signature are linked together, so they should be close to each other.
Also, I couldn't get the status bar to look like StefBosch did. I see no way to edit the font to look closer to FL?
Here's a screenshot from FL.

If you don't know what font FL is using: You could use a screenshot with a bit longer text and upload it to :
https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ to identify it.
they quite often get the font right.

Reaper automatically provides a margin when setting the status bar font. The only way to get the effect is to make the status bar larger with a transparent/invisible layer to create the illusion that the margin is smaller. I did come to the conclusion that this causes a lot of problems, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Good work, by the way!

I tried FontSquirrel before, which got quite close - but then I found that FL's fonts are stored plainly in their installation files. That means I can just try them all out until it looks identical. However; FL, Reaper and Affinity Designer has different ways of rendering text - so it will look slightly different for each.

Thanks! Ah. I think I'll keep it "normal" for now.
Changed some colors in the theme tweaker, and made new toolbar buttons. Unfortunately they need to be slightly smaller than FL's to keep their margins at 3px.
When I started making this I used FL 12 as a base, so some of the colors are/were off compared to FL 20.

It should work well enough in your resolution.
I found a solution to the transport issue by setting the right margin to -999:
set trans.status.margin [10 0 -999 2]
It still needs to be wider than FL's though, since Reaper can have two timecodes showing at once.
Edit: Added a width-knob.
Edit: Not sure how to tackle this problem, when using "dual pan" mode.
The problem is that there is a gaping hole there.
Edit: The MIDI editor colors are updated. They were actually a smidge too dark compared to what it was supposed to be.
Unfortunately, it'll never look quite the way I'd like it to - because of the way Reaper handles colors.
Edit: Found a way to do green selection around the master meter in the TCP.
Edit: Experimenting with making the solo button a light, like the mute button.

try moving the pan 1 pixel left and the width 1 pixel right.
it's clearly an arch connecting the two knobs together.

Thanks! I might be able to do something about the note colors, but it won't look as nice as FL's - unfortunately. I'm not sure how those colors work exactly.

Hi Mordi! Thx again for your theme, i 'm enjoying using it
I just think of something regarding the send-receive wire indicators.
Would it be possible eachtime we hover over a wire, when there's a send or receive, to automatically colorize the wires from every track that is connected, in order to see easier where the sends or receives go?

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this is not possible.
I just uploaded the latest version now. Mostly fixes the issues with Dual Pan. See first post.

I wish most themes were darker too, unfortunately tweaking it usually involves opening up tons of different image files. Also if shadows or gradients are used then it's nearly impossible, the amount of work required to modify or create a theme is pretty staggering

Hello, wanted to thank you for making this theme. You have somehow managed to make REAPER look very slick
Are you ever planning to add wide mixer layouts? Currently it is hard to read plugin names in the mixer.

Yes, that's the plan. However, I do not have a timeframe for this. =P The theme seems to be mostly feature-complete for 1080p, and the next job would be to make it high-DPI compatible.
I'll be busy with a lot of other type of work in the forseeable future, so I don't know when that will happen.

This is a really great theme!!! I'm not a FL user, but it is very un-cluttered and legible, I love it. I'm using it all the time now, THANK YOU!!
My one problem is that I'm seeing nothing in the transport time box. I've installed all the fonts... it shows up fine in beta1, but not in beta2...
Also, hiding the playback rate worked in beta1, but not in beta2
Any thoughts what might be going on?
Actually the only issue I had with beta1 was the record mode autopunch button. Wondering if I could just add it to the beta1 version. I prefer the more fully featured transport in beta1.... and the green buttons!
Keep up the good work, thanks again!

This mixer of FLstudio is so useful.
this is like the only theme I can actually watch lots of tracks meters in a useful way.
so clean!
wish we had such a mixer with these meters above in the default theme.
really good work here.

Yep, I have the same problem. I wish I could just get the transport of beta1 with the rest of beta2. would solve it. For now, if you don't use the mixer, beta1 is the way to go.
I'm absolutely stuck on this theme. Clearly the designers at FL know what they are doing, and thanks for the work to re-create it. I tried concept 6, which is lovely, and much more deeply programmed, but this is still less cluttered, and over the course of hours, less tiring to look at.
Where do I send $$? I'll check the first post...

Lovely theme. I've installed Beta 2 in the ColorThemes folder and it doesn't show up in my themes list. I have Beta 1 that works and that seemed to be in a different folder where all the other themes are (another color themes folder) and I've put Beta 2 in there and it still doesn't show up, any ideas?

I'm on windows, so I'm not sure what the problem is. For now, I took a few hours yesterday (well, quite a few ) and made a remix of beta 1. I can post it here if you don't mind.
Since I don't know FL at all, I wasn't trying to make it be like that, I just made some modifications that improved my workflow a bit. Made the TCP a little more compact and a few other things.
I do want to try the graphics program you use. It's not that expensive. I used gimp, but it's obviously not really the tool for the job!
coffee money coming your way!

Not sure why this might be. Are you sure the .reaperTheme-file is located in the ColorThemes folder?

Affinity Designer is really nice. Especially when it comes to exporting, it couldn't be quicker. Has a few bugs here and there.
Feel free to post screenshots of your modifications. Maybe you have some ideas I could borrow.
Thanks for buying the album! You're the first to do so on Bandcamp!
