Reaper Won't Play Or Record After Reverting to Windows 10
I upgraded to Windows 11 on my DAW machine and I didn't like it (Reaper worked fine I just didn't like the OS), so rolled back to Windows 10. Did this on anther machine a few months ago (no Reaper on that machine) and it was a fine rollback.
This time, when I rolled back, I saw that Dropbox has started synching my entire Dropbox folder, in which are all my Reaper Files etc.
I got very spooked by this and tried to play a Project in Reaper, but the needle wouldn't move despite it saying it was playing - same with record. No master volume or anything, but the WAV files are in the project.
Then I noticed that the file name displayed at the top left in Reaper had changed to have e.g. 'I Want You Back [modified]. In another instance, I see the file name is 'I Want You Back [proj 2/2] - which was not the original file name (see screenshot).
All the WAV files that are in other folders all have intact file names, and when I view the file explorer, all the Reaper Projects are named normally, but the ordering is different not matter what I do.
I then went to Dropbox and rolled back the whole folder the yesterday, after the Windows 11 upgrade but before any problems with Reaper.
Nothing worked.
Then I uninstalled Reaper and reinstalled it, and now the file name of the Project isn't even showing in the top left and pressing play or record does nothing.
I went to ASIO settings and changed it from my Focusrite 2i2 to another input and pressed play. The tracks did play, but they sounded like they had been terribly distorted.
Reinstalled 2i2 drivers, no change.
Our of desperation I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 11 again, but I doubt it will do anything.
I'm really upset, because so much work is there and its unusable.
Does anyone have any ideas?
