Default Drag FX

I've been watching some of Kenny Gioia's great tutorial videos. The crowing rooster at the end is cool.

I am trying to add an effect to many tracks, quickly. I thought I saw Kenny do so in one of the videos, but haven't been able to find it.

The manual says...
Copy an FX from one track to another...
Hold down Ctrl, drag the FX from the source track FX window and drop on the track panel for any other track.

On a Mac I find I can drag any FX from a track to another track without hitting Ctrl. How does one drag FX from one track to many tracks without having to drag to each track one at a time?

In this case, if I make an FX chain I can't use it as a default, because the tracks already exist, and contain audio. So after the fact, is there a way to put (drag) an Effect with a particular setting onto all the tracks?

Thanks

If you open the tracks' insert windows you can drag multiple fx between them

Thank you Vdubreeze,

Yes, I found that, and I can also copy an effect or a group of them, then open FX on other tracks - one at a time - and paste into each track.

What I am looking for is a way to add an effect or even a group of FX to multiple tracks quickly, without needing to open the FX window in each track, one at a time.

I thought I saw Kenny Gioia do this in one of the many videos here at the forum. I don't remember which one, or how to do so. I haven't found an answer in the manual so far either.

Hey Don,

You can do this by using SWS FX Chains.

Open SWS Resources and go to FX Chains
Right-click the empty area and Add Slot
Double-click that slot and select an FX Chain to place there (Note: You can also click the upper left Icon (with the green arrow) to automatically add all of your FX chains to slots in this window, but it can be messy if you have a ton of FX chains and don't want them all in this window)

There are several ways to then apply that FX chain simultaneously to selected tracks:
1) Assign a shortcut to "Paste FX Chain to selected tracks, Slot 01-10". The Slot number refers to the ordering of your FX Chains in SWS Resources. In my pic below Equilibrium is Slot 01, DC8C is Slot 6, etc. e.g. I use shortcut E to apply Equilibrium (slot 01) to selected tracks, and Alt+E to apply SonEQ (slot 04). C for Pro-C2 (slot 08) and Alt+C for MJUC (slot 07).
2) Double-click on the Path name next to the FX Chain name. If you double-click on the Name itself it will rename the FX Chain so you have to double-click on the Path instead.
3) Right-click the FX Chain in SWS Resources for additional pasting options.

You want to make use of 2 actions in The Action List and assign both to a custom keyboard shortcut:

1. Copy FX chain from selected track
2. Paste FX Chain to selected tracks

Workflow:

1) Select the Track from which you want to copy it's FX chain (could be 1 plugin in the chain)
2) Hit the custom keyboard shortcut you assigned to 1st Action.
3) Select all tracks on which you want the FX chain to be copied to.
4) Hit the custom keyboard shortcut you assigned to the 2nd Action.

Presto.

Thank you lachrimae and vanhaze. Those look like what I need for this.

I'll go give it a try.
