Default blue screen....oops

1. got reaper x64, worked fine.
2. got saffire 6, worked fine.
3. loaded reaper x32 to access dx vsts.
4. when setting computer to hibernate and resuming windows, saffire 6 would not work; had to physically disconnect/reconnect usb. then it worked.
5. tried to remove x32 (since I didn't really need the dx's anymore)
6. somewhere in item 4 and 5, hibernate/resume caused bluescreen crash.
7. tried removing all reaper and saffire software and drivers.
8. my laptop still crashes when resuming from hibernate.

yeah, I could skip hibernate, but it bothers me that the computer isn't working properly. BTW, this morning, reaper x64 locked up and would not reload--it got stuck in the reading vst window. I'm concerned that whatever is wrong is getting worse......

I think maybe I need to find out how to really remove all of the reaper and saffire components and start over. windows 7 seems to be not removing the components and hence the continued issues.

hope someone can assist

How are you uninstalling Reaper?

I believe Reaper leaves behind a few things in the 'data' folder, like fx chains, etc. Any of those files shouldn't mess with your computer.

If you need to uninstall a 'driver'... do it from the Device Manager.

There is also a setting in the USB controller section of the Device manager, right click on 'USB Root hub', select Properties, then select the Power management tab. Turn off the 'let Windows turn off this device to save power' option.

It seems 'hibernate' has always been a little flaky (just sayin' )

Now, one more point... Blue screens are usually caused by a faulty driver or a hardware problem. And seeing how 'hibernate' relys on RAM, maybe you should run a 'memory tester'. Windows 7 has one built in, you'll find it in the 'Administrative Tools'.

Good luck.

I agree. Nearly every time it will be a driver problem. REAPER itself doesn't leave anything but text files, and they are left so you can re-use them. Certain plugins can leave stuff in the registry as well.

I can't name them all obviously, but some copy protection will do it.

If you need to search and strip out hidden files Agent Ransack will do it - http://www.mythicsoft.com/page.aspx?...e=agentransack
