Default MIDI Record ?

Hey Guys,

When recording a new MIDI item all 16 channels get sent a reset message for Volume and Pan as can be seen in this pic. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn this off? This is causing me many problems as well as much aggravation. That's 32 unwanted messages being sent per routed track. If I have 2 MIDI trks going to one record trk that's 64 unwanted messages. So you can see how these unwanted messages can add up quickly.

Hey Anton9, that's never happened to me, I get no pre CC events unless I send them with my keyboard. IF your recording this with your keyboard I would think it must be coming from there.

No this is when recording MIDI output from one track to another. Thanks to your reply it made me think about how I have it set up and I think I found the culprit. I think it's S&M-MIDIReaRoute that is causing the problem. Even if I set it to only one chan. it still spits out reset messages for all chans.

Thanks

Yes, I've seen this before. I can't remember all the circumstances, but I'm pretty sure it actually came from something in Reaper. One of the plug ins. Maybe ReControlMIDI itself. I can't remember.

In options/preferences/midi devices, try unticking the "on stop/play reset CC" ?

Yeah that's the first thing I checked when I ran into this problem..., but that has no effect on this situation. Thanks anyway

hey Anton, there is no way MIDIReaRoute (or MIDItoReaControlPath) can generate such events.

native thing, me thinks: I can reproduce this when the track's fader & pan knobs are linked to MIDI vol/pan (when linked, fader & knob send CC events, which get recorded when in Record Output mode as well as reset CCs messages discussed here).

It's down to the Send:

Uploaded with **************

-- track 2 has a single note in as MIDI clip
-- I routed track 2 to track 3
-- I recorded the output of track 3
-- the clip on track 3 has 16 Volume and Pan messages

No FX, nothing else here.

I tried the same yesterday, but without a note, as DarkStar did, and I got only the typical reset events. Probably you send from one track to the other, having "all" selected instead on the receive. Didn't try it though.

This problem has been resolved with much thanks to Jeffos.
