When I wrote the Power of Pink, the only things that stretched were backgrounds and the like. So it explains using pink as it relates to those elements.
In those days, buttons were a fixed size and in a fixed location. Then, some years later, we got WALTER and (hurrah!) everything could me moved and, indeed, stretched. Buttons, element areas, you name it. Pink and yellow lines controlled how images responded to all the WALTER changes; how is described in the WALTER guide.
You're doing this the right way. Learn the old stuff, then the newer stuff, then WALTER. Keep going!
